It's been almost 9 months since my FIL passed away. Tonight, out of the blue, my DS9 came to me and told me he "saw Grampie". When I questioned what he meant, he said one day this past summer when he was at Grammie & Grampie's house that he saw his "Grampie" sitting in his pickup truck waiting for him (my son) to come and get in the truck with him. DS said the door of the truck was wide open and "Grampie" was just sitting there waiting for him. DS9 said he ran as fast as he could from the house to where the pickup was parked but when he got there "Grampie" was gone.

It was very eerie and chills ran down my spine. I didn't know what to say to my DS except to tell him that he had a special gift. Grampie must have loved him very much to have been able to find a way to come back here and say goodbye. DS9 was very nanchalant about the whole experience. I'm still getting chills rethinking our short conversation.

I know when my Dad passed away, strange things happened in our house but none of us every claimed to have seen him. I'm curious as to whether this has happened to anyone else or anyone elses child.

Hello, Just wanted to say that I've never experienced that but I did have a dream about my uncle who passed.....it was about a month after his passing...and the dream was so strange...he was standing at the foot of my bed saying everything will be okay....it was cloudy white in the background and there were 3 other guys w/ him who i didn't recognize....but the feeling I had was so strange....i felt so peaceful and calm...it's kind of hard to explain...and when I awoke I was still feeling so relaxed and calm...it was a strange feeling..nothing I've ever experienced before...and I believe he was truly there but came to me in a dream as to not frighten me...weird huh??? :)

Put this under the "strange but true" category.....

About 15 years ago, my dad was in the hospital. He had this strange puss filling his arm, paralyzing it. The doctors couldn't figure out what it was. One night in the hospital, he had a dream where my older sister (she was 8 years old when she died, about 40 years ago or so) and told him "Daddy, tell the doctors that it's coming from your heart". So, the next day, he told the doctors what he had dreamed. They told him he was crazy....gravity dictated that the fluid couldn't possible run UP his arm into his heart (they had elevated his arm to try to relieve the pressure). After a couple days in the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest. They got him into the operating room and opened his chest. Sure enough, the sac around his heart was filled with this puss and it was indeed being pumped into his arm. They removed the puss and the sac around the heart.

My sister died of cancer before I was born, and when she was in end stage she and my dad were in the hospital together. My mom spent days running up and down between floors. When I was in labor with my first child, my parents showed up at the hospital. I was surprised...it was their 25th grandchild or so and they had never been before. It ends up my dad had stomach pains and came into the emergency room (my dad has tons of health problems). The nurses all joked about him having "sympathy pains". He was in the same room as me, two floors above. My mom remarked how similar it was, to have a daughter and her husband in the hospital at the same time. Well, it ends up my daughter was born at 1:20 in the morning...that same day the doctors found the pain in Dad's stomach was a tumor and cancerous. I just knew that my sister had sent this little girl to me to tell me all would be well. They operated on my dad, and 4 years later he is still cancer free.

I firmly believe those that have gone before us can still contact us one way or another. Tell your son that he is blessed that he has an angel watching over him. That's what I tell DD!

My mother when she was a young girl was standing next to a rail fence near an ole swimming hole, when she looked up and saw an uncle who had been quite sick floating up and then disappear. When she ran home to tell someone, her one sister meet her at the door and told her that the uncle had just passed away.

Also on another occasion while living in FL. she was walking accross her livining room, when she stopped right in her tracks and told her husband that one of their best friends has just died in an auto accident. About 1/2 hour latter they get a phone call, and sure enough the friend had died at the same moment she stooped and and told her husband.

As for me, well I had a dream one night that a woman was running away from someone and when she got to a convince store and went inside, her husband shot her and she died. The next day in the paper was an article about a woman in Philadelphia, PA. who was shot and killed by her husband, in a convince store.

Plus lots of other things.

That part gave me chills and reminded me of something. When I was 5 I was visiting family in NY and started having a fit. They wanted to know what was wrong with me and I told them that my cousin had just died in a car accident. They thought I was crazy. A little while later they received the phone call. I still don't know how I knew.

When my great-grandmother passed away in the middle of the night I woke my mother up and told her. A little later we got the call.

Somehow I always know when someone I'm close to dies or is just getting ready to die. So far it has happened every single time. It can really scare you when you get those feelings and don't know who it is yet.

My DD now 8 seen my Aunt (my Mom's sister) who passed away...

She was only 9 months old at the time my Aunt passed away so I know there is no way she has any memory of it. When she was 4 she had been taking a nap in my parents room. I was downstairs and she let out a terrible scream. I went flying upstairs as quickly as I could, I thought something was terribly wrong. She was crying terribly, and after I got her calmed down she said "there was a big woman in mimi's closet!" Now to a child almost anyone can be a "big woman"! I kept telling her no honey there was no one in the closet it was just a bad dream. But she insisted that there was! So to ease her mind I went and checked the closet, nothing there. So we went on about the day. The next day my Mom called from Florida, her and Dad were down here because my Dad's Mom was sick, well she told me that she had passed away. So Alexus and I headed down to Florida. When we got down to Florida Alexus told my Mom about the "big woman" in her closet. As she started to describe the "big woman" to her she was saying she was wearing a green dress w/ white buttons. At this point my Mom and I just look at each other, my Aunt was buried in a green dress w/ pearl buttons. She was supposed to have been Alexus's Godmother but had gotten sick. We postponed the baptism until she would be feeling better. But she passed away before it ever happened. I believe my Aunt came back to see her. She loved Alexus to peices and loved being w/ her. Just too coincendental that she described what my Aunt was buried in for me not to believe that it was her!!

The day after my dad died we were awaken by clattering pots and the smell of bacon. The thing is, my dad was always up at the crack of dawn making bacon and eggs (it's no wonder he died of a heart attack) and he was NEVER quiet about it! In fact, the last thing he did before he died was have his usual breakfast before he sat down in his old chair and passed on. My sister still lives there and she says she will smell that breakfast still every now and then. Other things happen to. She gets cold chills out of no where when she sits in his chair. Whenever she's playing her music too loudly, the volume will slower get lower and lower untill it's turned all the way down. Our dad always hated it when we played our music loud. "Turn that racket down!" was a common phrase said to us every day. Personally, I don't know how my sister can still live there with that being the place where he died and all. The thought of living in a place where someone has died has always creeped me out.

I'm a little jealous reading all of these stories. I lost my Dad in June, and I wish he would come visit me. He did appear in my dreams a couple of weeks ago, and I was speaking with him, and when I woke up I felt a little better, but I wish I knew he was here. I would like to have my radio lowered or smell his food cooking. He probably figures if he did come to me, I would just get all emotional and he doesn't want that.

DawnF316, I know how you feel. I lost my father to cancer on Nov. 30th, 1999...it's very hard! But, always remember that angels are smiling down on us all, and watching over us, even if we can't see them :)

You gave me chills and misty eyes! Every now and then I have asked DS if he's seen his dad at all. He says no.

But one night a few years ago I was sitting at the computer late at night. I have recessed lights in the ceiling, and they hadn't been working for a while. Kept meaning to have someone look at the switch, etc. but never got to it. Any way, I was at my computer, and the switch on the wall clicked on, and the lights went on! Scared me half to death! Then my dog, Max, got up from where he was laying on the floor, walked over to one area in the living room, stuck his neck out, and started sniffing! I had read somewhere that animals can be sensitive to things like this as well as kids. He kept stretching his neck and sniffing, then finally walked away and laid on the floor. Geeeeeeeeeez...I'm not sure which of them it was. If only Max could talk. Could have been Dad, DH, my oldest sister...who knows! Ever since then, the lights work without any problem. :earseek:

My mom passes away, somewhat suddenly, last month. We have had several 'strange' things happen. On the day of her calling hours, my dh and I were awoken by a cell phone musical ring tone. I thought it was strange, and a little early, rolled over and went back to sleep. Dh got up, showered, dressed and went to the office. When he got home I asked him why he had set his cell phone alarm. He told me he had left it in the car over night, so it wasn't his phone!!! He thought it was music from a radio. Nope, no radio's were on!!! Then, 4 days after Mom's funeral, my dd, 10, was out in the driveway shooting hoops. She came running in the house screaming for me to come out, right now!!!! When I got outside, there in the sky, was the most perfect middle 1/3 of a rainbow you ever saw!! Now, that day, there were no clouds, it was incredibly dry, and about 50 degrees!!! Katie and my mom had a thing about rainbows and how they are promises from God. I do have Mom's remains in my living room and it gives me an incredible sense of peace to talk to 'her' every day. I know she is watching over us all.

My Grandmother told me a story. She was a young girl (back in the 20's) sleeping in her bed. She awoke, and her Grandmother was standing there, looking at her. She went back to sleep & told her mother the next day. She described the dress the "ghost" was wearing. It exactly matched one that the "ghost" had in life, one my Grandmother had never seen....

I don't tell many people about this...but here goes:

When I was 16, my Grandmother started "dating" again. My grandfather had passed away 4 years before.

Granny was invited by a nice gentleman to take a trip to Europe, and never having been there, she jumped at the chance (I'm pretty sure they had separate rooms!).

Mom was busy, all my older siblings were not available, so me, the youngest, was elected to stay at Granny's to take care of her dog and plants.

The first night, I slept with the light on.

Dixie, the shepherd/retreiver mix, loyally slept on the rug beside the bed.

I had a hard time going to sleep with the light on.

I was just laying there with my eyes closed, and I don't recall what prompted me to open them - but when I did, Grandpa was standing at the foot of the bed in an overcoat and one of those old gangster-type hats. I hadn't seen him in probably 6 or 7 years, so my first thought was, "WHY ME????"

I didn't scream or anything, but I was totally creeped out and asked him to please just go away and never come back.

STOOPID ME!!!!

He disappeared after I hid my head under the covers for a bit.

Years later, I confessed the story to Granny. She nonchalantly said, "Oh, he visits me all the time, no big deal."

Well, she coulda WARNED me...geesh!

Now I just wish he'd come back, and bring my Mommy with him.

I also feel my dad is looking over me.He died back in 1991.The next year DH and I moved out of state away from family.I was busy unpacking and working in the apartment. All of a sudden the entire room filled with the smell of cigar smoke. It was so strong once it conected what the smell was I ran to the window to see if anyone was walking by smoking a cigar. My Dad always had a cigar going. In fact I had the funeral director put a pack of cigars in his sports jacket.
A few years later I was having an MRI to see if I had Multiple Sclerosis. As I laid there I swear my Dad came to me.In both cases it felt like he was there to tell me it will all work out.It was a peaseful encounter.
I wish he would "visit"more often:)

That's very cool and eerie. My middle child did that to us also. My husband's mom (Grandma Fish to my kids) passed away a yr ago Sept. At the time my DD was 4 yrs, 1 month old. That Easter we went to Ft. Lauderdale with my husband's grandma (his Mom's Mom...Grandma Werner to my kids)). After Ft. Lauderdale we did 2 nights in Disney. My daughter was then 4 yrs 9 mo old and it had been 8 month since my MIL died. Well, my DD woke at midnight and said she had a dream about Ft. Lauderdale. She told me Grandma was there. I said "yeah, it was fun to see Grandma Werner." My DD's response was "No Mom. Grandma Fish was there. I saw her." It was very eerie but I honestly believe she saw something.

I also had a night after my MIL passed away that I was convinced she was in the room with me. It was so strong a feeling that I actually was looking around the room for her.

My grandma died in 1991 and my grandfather (both on Dad's side), was killed by a drunk driver in 1997. I had a dream about my grandfather. It was right before we were to leave to go to the trial of the man that killed him. I was very angry and upset about the whole situation. I flung myself into volunteering for MADD. A couple of days before we were set to go I had a dream about my grandfather. That he was testifying against the man that killed him (!?!). Anyways, after that I dreamed that he was driving along a levee in his Model "T" car that he restored. I woke up with the first feeling of peace that I'd had since we found out he had been killed. I will always treasure that dream.

My grandpa and I weren't especially close up until right before his death. I had a really good visit with him a couple of weeks before he was killed. It was the first time we really talked. He was always a hard worker, and not very sentimental in showing emotions. I treasure that visit also.

My grandmother, on the other hand, was my best friend in the world. We were very close. She died very very suddenly. I will always regret not going to the hospital and seeing her. We thought she had a mild heart attack and I opted not to go with my parents to see her, intending on going in the morning. Apparently the mild heart attack wasn't so mild after all and she had a do not recussitate order in place. I was devistated and still am. I have prayed that I would get a visit from her, but it's never happened. :(

I haven't had any ghostly visits (though I've been informed my grandmother had strange things happen in her house all the time).

I have, however, had premonitions like Pooh67_68 described. I've "imagined" the entire instance where my mom had heat stroke and was taken to the hospital five minutes before it happened.

When a classmate died in a car accident last year, we heard the sirens during class. They were really loud, a few blocks from school. I blurted out "it's someone from our school going out to lunch. They got into an accident and died". My teacher told me that was a horrible thing to say.

By the end of the day we all knew that Gary had died in a car accident instantly when comming back to school from lunch.

Those feelings are probably as weird as being visited by any ghostly visitor. Have no idea to this day WHERE they came from or how I knew.

My dad died in 1991 and I have had several odd happenings. The day before he died of cancer (he was at home)he came out of a mild coma and started talking to me...he told me he didnt stay much in his body anymore, that he was spent most of his time floating in the corner..it creeped me out because he just driftted back off and didnt wake up again.

The several years later I was staying at my moms taking care of her (she has Parkinsons disease) and in the middle of the night I got this HORRIBLE feeling like someone was trying to wake me up by climbing inside of me. I couldn't yell or say anything even though I was awake. I knew it was my dad... he wanted to go and talk to my mom.... to this day I can rememer that feeling of haivng him trying to get into my head so he could talk to my mom... people tell me it was a dream, but I was awake while it was happening.

Now that my mom is very bad off we have had some weird stuff happen. One night in our old house my hubby was in the kitchen and all the stereo equipment and the TV went on at the same time in the den. And the other thing that keeps happening is ever so often we get the strong smell of cigarette smoke.. my dad was a smoker and sometimes one of the kids will ask Whos Smoking? You can walk to where they smell it and its vague but definate. Thats usually about the time the cats are walkign around all agitated meowing. No one smokes in our house so its must be him.

My grandpa passed away in 1999. In 2000 I got married and moved East and in 2001 had my DS. when we took him home for the first time to meet my family, we were all gathered at my grandmas house there were quite a few of us there. She has an open kitchen/dining room/living room area .... anyways were all in the dining room and kitchen parts...when a book fell off the shelf in the living room area.

I have always felt that it was my grandpa saying hi, and telling me that he met my son. I just wish I would have looked at the book seen what it was. I was too chicken to go over there.
