Visiting Kennedy Space Center on a Weekend?

Does it make a difference if we visit Kennedy on a weekday or a weekend? Are the crowds much heavier on a weekend (in early March)? Are there fewer knowledgable staff there on the weekend (DH is an engineer, and often comes up with heavy duty questions:) ).

Also, ... how long is the drive from WDW area to Kennedy? Is it reasonable to be staying on I-drive, and make a 1-day trip to Kennedy (not staying overnight in Kennedy area)?

Any info is appreciated!

We have always stayed on the I-Drive and have visited the space centre 4/5 times. It takes about 1hr30m maximum and it doesn't make any difference what day you go(except if there is a launch that day then its packed and don't go!!!). You could definatly do it in a day if you go up for 10.00 in the morning. Book your're sitetseeing tour a.s.a.p. and do this first if possible. Check to see if there is a lauch when you are there we saw a 10pm launch from the the freeway about 1.5 miles away form the centre and it was amazing (everyone parks on the side of the road you'll never get in to the centre as all the viewing tickets are usually gone quite quickly).

Hope this helps.
