What does WDW think about visiting other resorts and using their facilities?

We will be staying at the POP, and will be visiting other resorts for dining, and the kids would like to swim in some of the pools from other resorts.

Thanks

They don't "think" anything. They out and out STATE no. Pools are for use by THAT resort's Guests only, per signage at each resort.

There are a few exceptions: any All Star Guest may use any All Star pool; any Port Orleans Guest may use any Port Orleans pool; where a DVC property and a Disney resort exist side-by-side, SOME interuse is allowed.

That's it.

I predict this thread will be closed by 6:22 PM today.

Yep, not allowed. And the lifeguards do enforce this rule. They often check resort ID's (even though your resort name is not on your room key, there is an id number that identifies which resort you are staying at). If they see you aren't a guest there, you will be asked to leave. And I've seen it happen at the Poly and a few other resorts.

Its also a huge pain to pool hop, we have done it a few times back when we were DVC members staying on points (they allow members to hop to certain pools at certain times). Its just easier to swim at your own resort!

Have a great trip.:)

The first thing you should do is ask yourself if you wouldn't mind if guests from other resorts or even from outside take up the pool chair you paid for.

The second thing is to read the signs at the resorts.

So if you are not capable to read the signs or understand the rules or just think think they are not made for you and you don't mind the public humiliation to get thrown out of a pool I would say go ahead and try your luck. :lmao:

it's a no no, we don't do it, but I have heard of people that do. You can probably do a thread search and find tons of opinions on this. Have a great trip!

Will you be bringing your refillable mug from 2007?? :rotfl:

In resorts that have them, you can rent boats, do the pirate cruises, rent surrey bikes, watch the electrical water pageant...do they still have para sailing at at the Contemporary? No, you should not use the other resorts' swimming pools but no on will stop you from exploring the other resorts and using some of their facilities.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can think using another resorts pool is in any way ok. (other than sister resorts/DVC members, of course). The big sign by each one stating that the pool is for the exclusive use of that resorts' guests only might be the first hint.... This is why we will be at the Yacht Club instead of the Poly this summer. At least we know the only people using SAB are the ones staying at YC/BC. Same can't be said for the Poly, which is a shame.

I just want to say something here to all of you who responded to OPs post and jumped down her/his throat.
Take a breath people. Did you notice this is only their 3rd post, and quite possibly they haven't been to WDW before, and don't know the rules?
OP just asked a question politely. Some of the responses were way out of line, IMO.:sad2:

The fact that the OP only had 1 or 2 posts when they posted the question is exactly what would cause me to answer in a more negative way (although I didn't answer in this thread). To me, anyone with 1 or 2 posts that jumps in with that as their first question on the board WITHOUT even mentioning "hey, it's my first trip, and I was wondering" kind of info, is more often than not a troll and looking to stir up trouble. It's very suspicious to say the least.

If that's not true of the OP, I apologize, but that is the way of the message boards here when topics are sensitive. And sadly there are people out there that post these kind of questions under new user names just for their own fun.

I was just going to post this same thing. Poor woman may never return. She asked a question, she came back on saying "thanks for the info" and was made to feel like she was about to kidnap the Lindbergh baby all over again.

I think at one time Disney allowed pool hopping (Universal still does) and honestly if not for the disboards, I would probably not realize myself what a no no this is.

I agree. This seems to be exactly the kind of question a new person might ask. If it was someone with a lot of posts, they would get accused of trying to do something against the rules also because they have enough posts that they should know better. You can't win either way with folks.

I don't see anything where they said they know it's against the rules and intend to do it anyway.

They asked what Disney does do.

Wow! I had no idea how hot some topics can be. And I didn't know that there are people on here who ask questions just to cause trouble. :scared1: I guess this is not all Happily Ever After afterall and I have a lot to learn about using the Dis. I have never pool hopped and probably wouldn't bother since it would be a lot of trouble in my opinion; but I thought I read somewhere that you could if you stay in WDW resort. Apparently, I read incorrectly....but maybe this person innocently misunderstood the way I did.

Oh my, I am surprised with responses OP got. Instead of "Welcome to board" and explaining pool rules people jumped right on with rudeness. Seriously, not every new person is a troll, and not everyone reads Disney Guides before joining here. Why not to give a newbie a chance. I will not be surprised if OP will never post again. :sad2:

Yes, some posters will be quick to pounce on certain topics here. I think a lot of it is that those certain topics pop up on an almost daily basis (and I won't mention any) and it gets old quick. Safest bet would be to do a search on a topic first.
And yes, some posters (usually with low post counts) just pop in to stir the pot for their own entertainment. Start a controversial thread and sit back, never posting on it again. And it never fails that it will prove entertaining.

Sister hotels can share pools like All Stars line and POR/POFQ, others cannot. Although I heard long ago it was allowed but too many people used BC/YC pool since it is gorgeous. Logically not everyone, esp. newbie can know that and this is why asking is totally fine.
