We can't decide whether to go to a welcome meeting, we would only really need to go to get a phone card and to get our Virgin Holidays benefits for Universal Studios. I'm hoping someone can answer the following questions:)

My 1st question is, has anyone had the Virgin Benefits for Universal Studios?? What are they and are they worth getting?

My 2nd question is, Is there somewhere apart from the welcome meeting Virgin are located if we wanted them.

Finally does anyone know the best place to buy a phone card close to Downtown Disney?
Sorry for all the questions but we're just really trying to get what we want without going to the welcome meeting.

Thanks in advance:)

We went with Virgin for our first trip last year and went to the meeting (which was at House of Blues at DTD - we were staying at Saratoga Springs.) Our benefits were early entry to IOA and US, which for us was a huge benefit. Unfortunately the meeting was an hour long and we had to sit through all of it before being able to collect our tickets. Even more annoyingly, we had to personally see the Virgin rep before being able to get the tickets, and had to wait while they helped lots of other families who wanted to buy tickets for extra trips and things. We were raring to go, and this delay was frustrating, but, ultimately, worth it.

We're thinking now of giving the welcome meeting a miss and will try and pick up a phone card elsewhere.

Thanks for your reply catherinen:thumbsup2

we sat through one meeting but avoid them now! We have to go and register for the villa on our first morning but just try to get whatever we need from the rep (it was Kids Eat Free cards last time), sign the paperwork and get out asap.

This time our plan for our first day is to have breakfast at Bob Evans (located next door to the villa place) and then head to LEGOLAND. I will go into Bob Evans with the children and order breakfast whilst DH goes to sign the paperwork (obviously assuming there are no issues). He will then use "breakfast is waiting" as his reason to get in and out in record time!

If you e mail the virgin concierge you can collect all of it at the airport:thumbsup2 we did this 18 months ago :goodvibes

Ps going back in 2 days eeeeeeeeeeek:cool1:

WSussex could you possibly give me the e-mail address that you used and also was that Gatwick or Orlando?

Personally, I wouldn't go to the welcome meeting. Complete waste of time - we went on our first trip but only because we wanted (actually, needed) to change hotel. You should be able to pick up any benefits vouchers from the rep at the airport (they shouldn't make it a condition that you have to go to the meeting to get them) but might need to let them know in advance that you want to do that. You will be able to buy a phone card from any mall (we bought ours from guest services at Mall @ Millennia) or supermarkets like Walmart.

Concur with others that it is both a waste of time and will frustrate all but the most virgin (parden the pun) Orlando visitor.
