Have you called Virgin and asked about bulkhead seating? I was pleasantly surprised to find out at least one US airline's policy is, "Yes, now that you've booked a ticket, we can assign you the seat you need even [long] before you get to the airport".

Also, in consideration of your fellow passengers who may also need bulkhead seating, please consider splitting up your party for the flight - perhaps even just the person who needs it and one companion, while the rest of your party sits together elsewhere on the plane?

You should probably check the UK forum for hotel advice.

You can use online or twlight check in as long as you have spoken to Virgins special assistance department first to assign the seating. Special assistance are fantasic! Twlight might be your best bet as if there are any problems you are there speaking to a human!!

For hotels we like the Sofitel attached to the North terminal but the Hilton is Ok too which is attached to the south terminal (and easy access for Virgin flights.)
