Virgin Sale before next July?!!

Hey! I'm not sure if you have, but have a look again for flights with virgin.

I'm going in August 2014, when the dates first came out they were way over priced for our budget, have left it 2 months & i checked 2 days ago and it was £570pp so i've booked it! :)

Have a great evening! :)

That's a great price, I was just looking at Manchester and they were a lot more expensive than yours! Are you flying from London?

Was that £570 one way? If you got that round trip direct you got a great price!

I had the option this last week to either cancel my flights for a full refund or try change them so I did a search to see what my options were and to my absolute surprise Virgin came up the cheapest (it was a Manchester flight - VS75) for £580 round trip including Glasgow connections (so might have even been less without the domestic sector but I didn't check that as I need to connect). Maybe VA have been feeding some discounted fares into the system to keep checking

lucky you - been checking daily since they were released I would be so happy if I could get that price. Well done you :thumbsup2

Thanks, I eventually didn't book them because I managed to change my original flights, which I paid the same for but with a different airline; just wanted to let you know the deals are out there and nobody was more surprised than me, especially given that VA had been coming up at over £1000 per head when I was initially looking.

Thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2 I was only looking (as you do) as we landed back on Thursday and know we can't really take dd out of school again after this year :sad2:

Snap! Part of the reason our trip is costing over £1000 more this year for identical to last year with one extra night! But such is life and we will find a way to go, between airmiles, Topcashback and a healthy dose of optimism to combine with our diligent searches :rotfl2:

I know I was shocked with my price too! When i first looked they were £1100 each with Virgin.

But I checked last week out of curiosity (as I had not looked for a while!)
and it came up at £570pp for both ways from London Gatwick to Orlando Int! So it's all booked for August 2014! Already booked my Disney package so the flights were the last big thing to book :)

I will never pay more than £600pp for flights, I'm determined! :)

Getting very excited now! :) x

Hi all, sorry to jump on the back of this thread, but I just wanted to ask your opinions.

Me, my other half and a friend are going to WDW from the 8th to the 15th May. We already have our flights booked.
My auntie and cousin now want to join us but the flights with virgin are coming in at around £1350 for both of them. Is this a good deal, or do you think they will drop slightly...we only really wanted to pay around £1200 maximum.

It's always difficult to predict when airlines might drop fares or put a sale on , i'm finding just now Virgin seems worse than most at predicitng.

I'm trying to book my flights for next september just now and 3 weeks ago Virgin were £700+ from glasgow that dropped last week to just £630 and like a mug i though maybe will drop a little more but yesterday it rose again to £660!

for 3 of us thats nearly £100 which would pay our taxi to the airport so i'm hoping if i leave it another week or 2 it might drop back down again.

tis a real guessing and gambling game booking flights these days! :)

Where are you flying from? That sounds a little high for May flights. Would your cousing and Aunt be willing to fly a different flight/airline from you if they got a better price? I'm fairly confident that they can beat those prices even with direct flights for May

We are flying from Gatwick, ideally i'd like them to be on the same flight as us as they havn't ever travelled much, and have never done a flight any longer than a few hours, but as a second resort BA flights arrive around 30 minutes after ours lands, and same on the way home too. BA are coming in, even more expensive than Virgin at the moment.

I feel a bit panicky, the other day when I checked the flights on the Virgin website it said 'no availabilty' so I was like OMG is the flight full :worried:
The next day though, they came up again... so I don't know lol

That sounds pretty standard for airline websites :rotfl:

I can understand why you'd want them on the same flight or at least preferably traveling from the airport to the resort, regardless of how well traveled they are, but flights arriving around the same time might be a clever solution if that fails. Best you can do is to keep checking. I know that the general trend is for prices to go up as you draw nearer the time of travel but they do fluctuate both ways and sales do come up. There should be another BA sale in the next month or two and usually when either BA or VA have a sale, the rival follows suit so keep checking and clearing your cookies :) I stand by my answer to your original question in that I think £1300 is a bit steep for May but if they are concerned they may prefer to rather have the flights booked and done with. If they do that, tell them not to price hunt afterwards though.

Virgin tried convincing my OH over the phone that 329 days before we wanted to travel, the return flight was almost full and we had to pay £3,600 to guarantee two seats in PE as there were very few left.

Oddly enough, PE was half the price a few weeks later.

Moral of the story is not to trust their customer care team, lol. They told us a complete lie to attempt to get us to pay their over inflated prices.

Now, ranting aside ;) flight prices vary hugely. There's still a good chance they'll drop again. We are hoping to book our March flights over Christmas to see if there's a sale or price drop, and we've booked six weeks beforehand in the past (but we were stuck with high prices leaving it so late). But you should be fine to keep checking over the next few weeks and book if it hits a price you're willing to pay!
