Hi, I am looking at prices for next year( end of august/ september) and we would like to fly PE, I have a quote for £3000 with VH for a fly drive, and a quote for a package PE with a mod resort for £4000.

Are VS prices usually cheaper or more expensive than VH for PE, as I was wondering if I could get a better price? I don't want to pay more much than £3000 for flights.

We are going to VH as it is cheaper than just booking with VA - and we are going next month. We also get 10% as we are frequent flyers:thumbsup2

For two adults and one child it SOUNDS a bit expensive to me... i.e. if you look at the current Economy/PE fare sales, you could get 3 PE seats for under £1800 (if departing after 22 August). That is obviously a VERY good deal...

If you waited until next June to book, you may well find that PE seats to orlando go on sale at under £600 per person again, but there are never any gaurantees in life. There will probably be fare sales (Economy/PE) from Virgin in both this August/September and January, but those sales may not be applicable to flights for August 2008...

So it is a gamble. If you book now, at least you know that you get flights exactly when you want them and have paid a "reasonable" (although could be better) price. If you waited, and booked nearer the time, (maybe next January maybe next June  ) then you MAY save quite a lot of money....

It is definitely a very personal decision. Personally I never book this far out, BUT I know a lot of people do (and our holiday arrangements are more flexible because Lucy is at nursery and not school...)

I was thinking of waiting, as PE for our dates are still available for this year for both VH & VA at those excellent prices

I know that there is no guarantee for next year however even if we could get them £500 cheaper it would be a good saving. We plan to go right at the end of august, (28-30) so this is very close to when the schools go back, so maybe that will effect the prices nearer to the time.

It is just the matter of if I can hold my nerve and not book anything yet:)

We paid £1700 for 2 adults and 1 child PE. That includes our 10% discount. Originally it was £2800. we were lucky as VH had a sale on for PE.:)

I agree with Alice, prices are high so far in advance. Going last few days of August is back to low season and they struggle to sell the seats. Wait for next years sales you should have no problems. I priced up for 3 adults in early sept last week, it came to about £1,600 in PE for this year.

we have more flexibility than I thought, don't need to be home until September 21st so can now travel out in September which should be better at getting lower prices, the prices for a few days later are £500 cheaper at the moment, be great if we can get flights for less than £2000.

If I was in your position, I would definitely wait (especially since you have quite a lot of date flexibility) - these things don't sell out. Basically, if you book now you are, you are paying a premium. If I was you I would DEFINITELY wait until the January sales and see what deals are offered then, it may be worth waiting longer....

I know that a lot of people (both on here and elsewhere) like to have there next couple of holidays booked up, on a count down ticker and all planned to the nth degree... but I am pretty sure that you could save £250 to £500 per person by waiting for a suitable sale - that's a lot of money to buy a little patience (and ignore a bit of subconscious peer pressure) :cool1:

It doesn't mean that you can't plan - you can still look at accomodation and think about your itinerary/ADRs etc... and even write it up in a spreadsheet or whatever, just don't press the "Book Now" button until you get a better deal :thumbsup2

Best Wishes,
Alice

The only time you should book a long time in advance is if you are in a position like us, Have to stick to school holidays and want to secure a Miles and money offer. They don't release many seats in school hols to miles and money so you have to grab them when they are there. The last ones we did in Easters school hols were £291 booked 11 months out, no way would they have come down if we had waited.
If I was able to go in school term I would leave it for sales every time.

Definitely, that makes lots of sense to book earlier :thumbsup2 (and you got a FANTASTIC deal for next Easter :cool1: )
