Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone knows whether Virgin tries to sit families together? I have a 1 year old & a 2 year old (crazy I know..... thought I'd get DW in before he's 3) & have tried to reserve seats together on the way home, but they don't have any left! It'll be a pain in the whatsits to sit separately (change bag etc).

Thanks for this

Kate

They will always try and sit families together, especially if you have such young children. Have you asked to book a sky cot? This would at least ensure that they know you need a bulkhead seat. They don't book pre book bulkheads, but allocate them on the day of the flight. If you are worried try and get down to the dTD checkin early, I think they open at 8am to ensure that you get the seats you want.

Yes, you will certainly be sat together, although there maybe an aisle between you (the seating is 3-4-3). Only 60% of the seating is allocated until 24 hours before departure and another percentage is held back to the day of the flight itself. Even if you do "reserve" seats online or on the phone, there is no gaurantee you will get them anyway, so dont panic.

Every effort is made to sit families together, and even IF the worst happens and you are seperated, the Cabin Crew will try to move other passengers to get you together. This happened to me on a BA flight when I had booked a Sky Cot and when I boarded the check in girl had made a mistake and given me a mid section seat. The cabin crew were marvelous and even said they would move someone to Upper Class to get me the bulkhead seat if needed (fortunately, they simply persuaded someone to swap with me!).

Dont worry about it, honestly! Its not in the interests of the flight crew to have families scattered all over the plane, so EVERY effort is made to sit people together.

We booked Virgin flights to Orlando through Funway at the end of March, to travel 1st May. Of course we were late booking so everyone had already had their seats allocated and the travel agent could not put us in a row of 3 together. It is myself, DH and DD nearly 2 travelling. I asked the TA to put a note on the booking asking for us to be seated together and for an infant booster seat.

When I phoned Virgin a few days later they had already allocated us seats both ways, in a row of 3. I think they do it as a matter of course, I assume they take the seats from the 40% customers are not allowed to prebook. Check the VIrgin Atlantic website, it will show you your booking in detail.

I would imagine Virgin will look after you dont worry. Have a lovely trip. :earboy2:

I was told at Down Town Disney checkin last Sunday that it is policy to seat family's together, that is one of the reasons not all seats on a flight are pre bookable. Do not worry they will put you together.

It is actually a regulatory requirement (CAA) that family groups be seated together where practicable - it applies to all airlines - not just Virgin
