Hi all,

I am currently planning my 1st trip to WDW and I'm currently looking at the first 2 weeks during September 2014. I would love to stay at POR.

I had looked at Virgin Holidays - and the price they quoted was £4,325.13. I shopped around and found Thomson offering the exact same holiday for £595.13 cheaper.

I have sent Virgin Holidays an email about whether or not they would price match this (I don't want to book for them to cancel and refund!) and I have just got an email back saying they would not price match against Thomson because "they are a charter flight and therefore not deemed as being like for like".

Just wondering has anyone managed to successfully Price Match with Virgin Holidays?

Thank you

they never price match charters. Best thing to do to get the price down is join virgin flying club on the virgin atlantic site. Once you are a member there you can get a 7% discount on their package holidays- still wont be a low at the thomson price but at least its closer

Thanks, I will look into that.

The lady at Virgin Holidays has replied asking for more details about what I am looking for, and she is going to look at see what the best price they could do would be.

Certain times next year they are not giving flying club members discount so make sure of that before you book

Yes i know oct is out as we tried. We get dicsount anyway through frequent virgin holidays club but i dont even think thats valid either

Diy for us so much cheaper and we have done for last few years

Thanks guys.

Lady at Virgin Holidays has come back saying the best price they could do for me is £3934.31.

She has also said there are some "really good prices" for CBR, so I am waiting to here what she can offer there.

Have signed up for the Flying Club, interesting they are not offering next year for certain times.

CBR for us has always been more expensive than any other Mod! So if they do offer it cheaper it would be a good option (although I still suspect it will be more expensive than what you have now).

Just a heads up - Virgin agreed to price match our holiday within 7 days of booking it - but they removed the free dining from the booking! We didn't find out until about two weeks before we were due to leave - when we were then told that we were out of the time scale for the offer. Anyway - having pointed out that it was in the original booking, and after a battle with three different people, they eventually put it back on - but I would ask them to ensure that it's included when you speak to them to ensure you don't have the same problems we did!

Not to sound silly but why can't you just book with Thomas cook if it is the exact same holiday? It wouldn't bother me who I booked it through I was what I wanted.

Yes,August is blocked out too.We got 10% discount in 2012.So without the reduced 7% discount they lost a £9000 sale:confused3

CBR was the cheapest moderate for both may and september when we we deciding for next year. Like you when we went it was the most expensive of the mods. Very strange
To the original poster. Thomson will fly you into sanford not MCO. Have you priced up VA separate flights hotel tickets on WdW? There is also 3% cashback on quidco. Even with VH discounts they have always been a lot dearer for us. I know that some have had good deals though. Have you tried complete orlando?

CBR was dearer with Thomson than POR. Yet CBR was cheaper than POR with Virgin, for the dates I am looking at.

To the above poster, yes, I have looked at hotels and booking flights separately, but wasn't getting any real difference. Had looked at hotels, tickets etc with Disney Travel Co. Not had a look at Complete Orlando, but I will def give that a look! Thanks.

An update on this. I had contacted Virgin about matching Thomson's price which was a no go. Virgin have since come back saying the best price they can give me for what I am looking at is £3,934.31 (a bit of a difference from the original £4,325.13!)

They have now come back again offering me the same dates etc but staying at CBR....the price....£3,592.32. This is now the cheapest price I have! I think this is pretty good.

Thats great they have been able to give you an even better price. Well done the waiting was worth it.

Thanks! Curiosity got the better of me regarding Virgin's price match, so pleased I emailed and asked anyway.

As this is our first trip to WDW, and the other half has been put off by the price, I think this is a bit of a result.....hopefully we can get it booked soon, as it has been a long running dream of going! Numerous quotes during the past few years, but nothing ever booked!

Disney is offering a discount on CBR this year. Only certain resorts are eligible for the discount (POR and POFQ are not, although I got a 15% off for last year on top of FD). CSR is also one of the discounted resorts IIRC
