Hi can anyone tell me if the glasgow flight actually starts in manchester then just stops in glasgow to pick up the additional passengers or if it starts at glasgow (the virgin seats link seem to suggest the former). Just trying to find out if there is any chance getting seats together if we don't book / pay. Also when I looked up the virgin link about their new seat reservation system it seemed to suggest that if you booked before dec then you can still get seats for free. But when I phoned virgin then rep did not seem to be aware of this. Can anyone confirm either of these points.

I've never been on a Manchester flight which had picked up other passengers so I would say it's very likely to be direct!

Nor have I but this flight only takes place in july and 1/2 of aug on a saturday (I think they only run for the 6 weeks of the scottish school holidays & that this is the 3rd year virgin have run the saturday summer glasgow flights) So I am not sure if I have just missed being on any. When I looked up the seat stuff that virgin have just issued that I found no glasgow flights but only a MAN- GLA- MCO one.

if you look at VA schedules they are different flight numbers and departure/arrival times. I don't think they take off from Man and land in Glasgow as the flight arrival times from Manchester to Orlando are correct (8 1/2 to 9 hours flying time). :)

Its a direct flight. We nearly booked it but the price went up whilst we were going through the process so we took the cheaper Manchester option. It must fly up to the end of August as that is when we come back

just to answer your question about paying to book seats. I was curious about this too as we booked at the start of december before the policy changes were announced.

I emailed Virgin customer service to enquire whether we have to pay to book seats and the lady who replied told me as we booked before December 16th with wouldn't have to pay.

I've printed this out so that if they try to make us pay I have it in black and white that we were told we did not need to. Theres so much mis-information and ill-informed employees lately that I like to keep the proof of what we've been promised.

I don't know if it's changed recently, but we flew virgin from Glasgow in
August 2011-
and we were one of the first families on the plane-
it definitely was just Glasgow to Orlando.
No passengers were brought from Manchester.:)

That's the way I read the info on the virgin web site but I got no where on the phone when I asked. I think I will email them as well and see if I get more joy.

We always fly Glasgow - Orlando direct with Virgin and it never arrives with passengers from Manchester. Always Glasgow direct to Orlando and the return leg is the same.

However, the flight is seasonal and restricted to only 2 flights a week at the weekend. It can change year on year but is either Friday and Saturday flights or some years it has been Saturday and Sunday. Flights start early May and are twice weekly until the end of October. This year they fly Friday and Saturday.

Great flights but very expensive in school holiday times
