Virgin Flying Club Free Flights

I've been looking at using my Virgin Flying Club points for a free flight next November. Looking at this November's prices ~ £508, I would only save about £200 after paying taxes etc. - not much saving for using 35,000 points!

So I'm now thinking of using my points to upgrade to PE - anyone upgraded using their points before? Are the upgrades readily available?

We used ours for a "free flight" a while ago. And your right, after APD, Fuel charges and Government taxes your not saving much!

We have looked into upgrading before and found it a bit hit and miss. You basically have to pay for a upgradable ticket - hopefully someone can let you know the fare codes for this as ive forgotten. I always found it to be a lot more expensive and not a lot cheaper than booking a sale PE flight!

I've found my miles are becoming harder and harder to spend to be honest! Miles plus money fares each time and i've converted some of mine for a free night at the Hilton before the flight.

Hi,

You will have to buy a fairly expensive economy ticket in order to upgrade to PE ( I think it is a Y, B or L class economy ticket)


You can also use your miles to upgrade from economy to upper class ( but availability to orlando is pretty low.

Same here, although we spent 1,000's & 1,000's of miles and saved about £5,000 a few years back for us the offers have gone, about 3-5 years ago we were saving £200+pp on Miles & Money only using 2,000pp Now you are lucky to save £50 and almost impossible to get M&M in school hols. Still have about 200,000 to use. Plus about 100,000 Delta miles, doubt they are much better.
