 From the Cabin Crew Union AMICUS:-

"Following the closure of the recent consultative ballot on Wednesday 29th August 2007, I can now inform you that the result has been recorded as follows:

· To Reject the Company's Offer – 92% of all returned ballot papers

· To Accept the Company's Offer – 8% of all returned ballot papers

· 70.5% of all ballot papers dispatched were returned

The above signals an overwhelming rejection, and is seen as clear indication that Unite/Amicus members employed by Virgin Atlantic, are prepared to participate in a formal Industrial Action Ballot in pursuit of what they consider to be an acceptable pay award.

I have informed the Company of this, and will now instigate the balloting process. The seriousness of the current situation cannot be undermined, and I am therefore asking you to ensure that any work colleagues who are not yet Unite/Amicus members, are encouraged to join at the earliest opportunity.

In the meantime I, along with your pay team reps, will seek to meet with the Company on the basis that they may wish to revisit their offer. I will be briefing all workplace reps regarding the next steps in the process and will update you accordingly.

Finally, I am asking all members to visit the Unite/Amicus website CAT Sector Virgin Atlantic icon for updates on the progress we may make."

that quite a concern for those of us flying virgin

thanks for the info Obi.

:scared1: We fly on Thursday!! Come on Virgin get your act together as other airlines are looking a better prospect

You will not be affected :goodvibes

The union will start the ballot process off, the employees will come back with another offer, this may or may not be accepted, it will be at least a month off probably more

No - we fly in 6 weeks !! I dread being delayed or even worse cancelled (as you can see i am a very optimistic person:rotfl2: )

You are as always a source of happiness :cloud9: , long may the force continue:wizard:

its good news to know it wont affect my flight on tuesday, but im worried about my november flights

we're also going in November although not that worried as you never know when you're going to hit a major delay. At least if they strike they will have to give warning of the strike action won't they?

Flight VS015 12.45pm from Gatwick yesterday (31/08)still hasn't left and is due to go at 17.15pm today (01/09 totaling a 28.5hour delay). So unfortunatly you never know when a big delay will hit anyway. If a plane breaks it breaks, and I think I'd rather be delayed than it break somewhere over the Atlantic:confused3

Oh God no, I've waited since I was a teenager to do this! All planned, paid for, things booked up, Virgin please don't let us down.
