Don't you pay for a child seat for your 18 month old? That sounds normal. Kids pay roughly 75% of the fare, but full taxes. Still, I know what you mean - considering the little once could fly on your lap for a nominal fee. But a toddler on a lap for 9 hours? It doesn't work for most.

I hope you all get your good deals.

I have no objections in paying for a seat - as like you say an active 18 month old on a lap for 9 hours wouldnt be that much fun!

I just find it hard to believe that they are charging only £23 more for an adult seat.

It must be the category of seats available. My DD's prices are coming up about £80 average less than mine (same taxes). I do remember flying with her as a toddler to South Africa with KLM and her seat cost more than mine and the rest of my family. The explanation was that they had xxx number of discounted seats and we had one person more than the cheap seats, so the child got the next best. I fully agree, it defies all logic when you look at it though. I was even more annoyed when the flights were only half full so I could let her sleep across an empty row - after paying for her seat!
