Virgin Atlantic prices, September 2011

i have been looking at flight prices every day as we were going on the 21st sept next yr

Well perhaps we can look together. Do you need to go exactly on the 21st or are you able to swing a few days either way?

I have been looking at the 23rd because the accommodation package works out a few hundred pounds cheaper than if I go the following week as intended so that should help buffer the additional flight cost if need be. Of course not everyone is able to play with dates so this may not work for everyone.

I'm not looking to book till October as I need flights for around the 8th to the 30th or there abouts.

Although our accomodation is booked I have been keeping a keen eye on flight prices since having to cancel this years trip and if I can get a cheaper flight say departing mid week rather than our booked Sat to Sat accomodation I 'll take the cheaper flight price and find extra nights accomodation in florida.

My daily routine at the moment is, wake up, make cup of tea, turn on computer and check VA M+M flight prices, sad I know. At the moment M+M for PE flights are coming up at £869.00 per person which I would be happy to book if they are around that price in October, I've got a gut feeling though that as soon as the half term comes round the prices will be consicerably higher than now:sad2:

Does anyone know if, at the stroke of midnight the next days flight prices come available on the VA website?

We originally booked our accomodation for the 25th sept this year but after looking for 3 months everyday for flights we could not find a deal for any dates from 23rd till 27th for some reason.Prices were over £1000 most days but mainly £950ish.Only after looking everyday every couple of hours we found the 22nd for £1515 for 2 adults and a child. Hence with the saving it was worth paying the £50 admin fee from disney.
As we are hoping to go november or december this year I have checked for dates this year and availibility is still high for beginning of dec at around £450 each with m+m so I am booking accomodation first this time as well.
Swings and round abouts and a pain in the :scared1::rotfl2:

I am doing my swings and roundabouts the other way round (I think ) I want to book the flights first. The only challenge is that I want to stay at POFQ again and being a smaller resort with fewer rooms available it gets booked up fairly quickly on the free dining offer. Did you book with Disney UK? Just wondering if the admin fee you paid was per person or for all three of you (i.e. the booking as a whole). If the latter is true, then I may just book so I know we are staying where we want to.

i have booked a villa from the 21st
im always checking the flights from Man
VA were £585 no miles Economy both ways
but
£624 Economy out PE back with M+M
so they seem to have the M+M for PE out but not Economy yet :confused3

So did we - but on top of that we were hit for £120 each for a Glasgow departure with VA :scared1: I won't do that again in a hurry. It was also one of the most unpleasant flights I have had with VA. Actually, no .... as far as VA goes, it was the worst!

Oh dear!!!!!

We are booked for next Oct school holidays flying from Glasgow.
Any further details would be appreciated.:):):)

Have you checked out aerlingus. Only booking until the 22sep at the moment and they fly from manchester with a connection in Dublin.

Dates from 8th to 22sep 2011 are £629.01 for two adults thats total with taxes.

We flew with them this year from Glasgow via dublin and they were great flights were on time in fact early.

Dublin was very easy to transit through and we are looking to book with them next year. Baggage is 10kgs for hand luggage and you can also take one personal item and hold luggage is 23kgs plus meal included as well as soft drinks.

Oops, I didn't mean to make you panic. To be fair, part of it was that we had become very used to PE flights and this time we went economy so I am sure that had something to do with it. Add to that the fact that there are so few flights direct from Glasgow with VA each year, meaning the flights are jam packed to capacity

Check in was painfully slow. We arrived at check in at 8.45 am for our 2 pm flight. There were already several other families there and despite being near the front of the queue, it took us over 25 minutes at the desk to get our boarding passes, etc. The biggest problem seemed to be that the staff were unfamiliar with the system and kept getting up and going to ask for help or help each other out. The word chaos doesn't begin to describe it. By the time we had our boarding passes it looked like a football stadium had emptied out in the hall with all the people arriving to get checked in. We were also delayed by 35 minutes which I really wasn't in the mood for :rolleyes1

That said, hopefully by the time next October rolls around the staff will have become accustomed to the VA system and most of the creases will be ironed out. They have next Easter and the whole Summer to practice. ;)

Hi lee it was for the booking. Plus we added an extra night so it wa 2 changes so if you just move the date only it should only be £25. The last few times i hv booked accom first because what you save on the flights by keep looking is better than waiting for the flights to come down and risk loosing the resort you want. Remember we didnt book till the april but for tht time of year again i would prob book when they hv there chritmas sale if i wanted a def date. We are going nov or dec next year and dont need to worry so much abt booking flights. Looked on va for this year and still loads
Of availibility this short time in advance.i think a lot of people book as soon as they come out for security and sometimes its a good price . Never done tht so i dont know. If i see a price im happy with i will book. Im looking around £460 each for next year no more(can but hope hey)

Another one who is shocked at the prices for next year in Sept. IF we go next year, and its a very big IF, we would be going at the start of Oct again but have been looking at the sept prices to get an idea and OMG its way more than I thought it was going to be.

Hopefully there will be some good sales. Does anyone know if Continental has sales as well? I always see the VA/BA/US Airways and Delta sales. Can't say I recall seeing much of Continental doing it's bit to shorten the beans-on-toast diet.

just checke va again
they have released a couple of m+m dates
coming back on the 27th sept £440 miles and money
so going by that the couple of weeks after that date should be around the same price

I think that sounds like good news for me. :)

Thats realllllllllly good compared to what people who went last september had to pay.It was worse than august:scared1:(well nearly). I would book if I had the dosh at that price. Have you booked your flights jeanette?

Earlier today I found VA flights for September from Manchester, PE for an adult and a child for £1296 for both of us. Only nuisance is that they aren't the dates I want and I was just playing around as close as I could get to my October return date. If it helps anyone, the ones I plugged in were 8th - 23rd September. I would just really prefer to go slightly later, although I am becoming more tempted to see if they are still there now. I have my flight funds all ready and waiting - I just need a confirmed booking now. :upsidedow

Go on you know you want to :rotfl2:. 2 years ago we flew out the 8th of september and the crowds were really low, no queues for anything, if my ds wasn't in secondary school thats when we would be going back

I so want to do it! :lmao: I just really need to clear the leave story at work first and don't know how well it will go down when I have just got back. Never been a problem before but this year it got a bit nasty and I don't want a repeat. I have explained that the only way I can take a holiday is by going in term time (or overlap into term time at least) and by booking as soon as dates are released. I am a single mum so only one income in the house and my daughter pays as the second adult, i.e. full price so although it isn't anyone else's problem, that is the reality and I need to work with that. I have been looking for a good gap to raise the subject since my first day back at work ;)

not a bad price 2tiggies
:thumbsup2

i am waiting for return flights to be out which will be the 15th oct for me

I want just one week before you. I want to leave the 23rd and fly back on 8 October. Our schools finish up for a week on the 8th, but they have the September weekend plus 2 inset days after, so DD would only miss one week of school plus 2 days from the previous week. I am so tempted by the prices I found but I just don't want to take my daughter out of school for 2 full weeks as she will come back to that short week and then the October break, which is rather disruptive in a relatively new school year. Somewhere between the bargain hunting and doing the right thing, lies a happy balance. Oh to find it :lmao:

What route did you find the M&M fares for 440 on? That looks pretty good too - may be worth me checking for those in a few weeks and looking at doing an upgrade on the better fare to balance things out. Even PE on the return flight would be something I'd be willing to do. That's the one that got us on the way back as we usually sleep through the night and this time we were in economy and it was impossible to get any rest.

We are looking for the 24th Sept till 8th Oct for 17 of us. Have been following the prices for the last month now but they are very volitile and change day to day.
Did a bit of a comparison for early Sept and Virgin told me the outbound flight only had 3 seats left and no M+M as the demand was too great.
Bit the bullet and pre-booked with Charter travel who were cheaper on the day for the flights I had enquired about for early Sept and they have given me a prelimenary price of £536 for the dates I require. Have the option when the return flight is released and they have a guarenteed price for me to cancel with no penalty so all booked just waiting for confirmation.

PS the flights are with Virgin from Manchester.
