VIP Tour

So here's the background. After my last awful trip, my wife has said we will not go back.

But ...

After Guest Services got my letter, they called me and offered us 4 days/3 nights at the resort I had a terrible time at and 4 days worth of Your Way tickets. In other words we have the chance to take a short WDW vacation for the cost of airfare. So, I think we ought to go back.

My question is that because we won't have any hotel or ticket costs (and the vacation will be shorter than our usual WDW stay) do you think a VIP tour makes sense? It'll be pricey, but since we're not paying for the room, maybe it would be the kind of day the kids would REALLY remember, and a good day to be done with the parks for a while. Or am I just rationalizing spending money because I got stuff for free? The tour would be about $2500, but that's less than I would have paid for the rooms and the tickets, and maybe it would be just great.

Anyone done the tour who can give me some insight? Or have any other ideas? Thanks.

I'm curious, what happened? If it were me, I would go and take the money that you would apply to the tour and then go on another vacation some place else.

Yes, I'd love to know why your last trip sucked. Details! Details!

I would do this. HOWEVER, if you had a terrible in park experience because of lines or what not, a VIP tour would be the way to go. They are 100% worth it, especially in MK. You don't get to "skip lines," per say, but it's basically like your own personal fast pass. The other aspect that makes them worth it is if you want to ride multiple headliners over multiple parks in the same day. They take you in/out backstage so you don't have to deal with the transportation from one park to the other. The guides are wonderful and provide a lot of insight. We never find the cost justified because we are just two people, but when we're with a group (up to 10), it's 100% worth every penny!

There is no reason to share any details of why your previous visit was a disaster. My question, however, is what would you do with the other 3 1/2 days of your vacation after this very expensive tour was finished? Would you still go to some of the other parks? Stay just at your resort. Spend additional funds to go to US?
