Vinegar as a Deodorizer?

I read that white vinegar can be use as a deodorizer to clean floors. My question is -- how? If you used enough vinegar, wouldn't your floor smell like salad dressing?

I've been using Mr. Clean with Febreeze, but I'm wondering if vinegar is more effective.

I just used that because my male cat sprays and one spot in my house I did put vinegar on it about 2 months ago when it happen but I could still smell it. I just put more vinegar down but I put a mixture of resolve carpet cleaner, Gain laundry detergent and a little water. I dont smell anything right now (cat scent or vinegar) beside the fresh scent of Gain (sorry had to put that). I'll let you know when it finish drying if it works. Vinegar has taken out cat scents before I dont know why this time, in this spot, it was soooo bad..

P.S. this same cat got mad at me a peed or sprayed in my bottom dresser drawer one time. I washed those jeans (which were soaked so he did it more then once or twice) in hot water with detergent (Gain) and lots of Vinegar. They have not scent. Neither the clothes or the dresser has that scent.

Mr. Clean with Febreeze works pretty well, but I can't seem to get the area around the cats' litterbox clean enough, so am I going to try vinegar. I guess it can't hurt.

I've been using vinegar in the rinse water when I wash my towels and it works great. I was concerned that the towels would smell like vinegar ... they don't!

I always use vinegar to clean my floors and in my laundry and other things. It smells really strong at first, but as it dries the smell fades and you can't smell it at all. I've read that if your house stinks like from cigarette smoke or burnt popcorn, whatever, to leave a bowl of vinegar sit out for awhile and it will absorb the smell.

I used vinegar a lot...it does smell at first but it's gone in a few hours and imo it does freshen the air. I use it as a carpet cleaner too...just add the same amount of vinegar as you would carpet cleaner.

Use white vinegar, it is a natural odor neutralizer and alot less expensive that those harsh chemicals and is not bad for the environment or your skin. It has been recommended to me to use in my rabbit litter boxes (and he doesn't smell).

I know this is about vinegar and while I use it for cleaning, windows, floors, counters, what I use to get out urine smell is hydrogen peroxide.

I do not have pets, but one of my dds peed on her sisters bed, just enough that it dried quickly and I never noticed it until I changed the sheets. The smell was awful, and I poured the peroxide over the entire area and let it dry overnight. It worked great.

OOH thanks for that tip. DS spilled what we think is milk in the 3rd room & we couldn't figure out the smell. Well we tried the carpet cleaner & the room still smells.

This weekend I'm going to add vinegar ! Thanks for that tip. I wonder if it will work if I mix it with the Pinesol on the tile floor as well ??
