Villians Sinister Soirée

I also booked and asked for the 10:15. The CM said 10:05 was what was available and explained the different time intervals are staggered for guests to not all arrive to check in at the same time. However it seems that regardless of the exact time, most will go right after the fireworks. Makes me a little nervous to have a later time to arrive that it will be nearly full by the time you get in.

I'm so bummed. Read about the Sinister Soiree last night, called right away this morning and could't get a ticket for any of the 3 MNSSHPs I go to :(
There seems to be the usual problem of finding available tables for a party of 1. Too bad, would have loved to splurge and pay extra for that special dessert party and the preferred parade viewing.

Has anyone had any luck getting tickets for a party of 1?

I read this yesterday: Request party of 2. Then wait 24hrs and call back to adjust the number of people in your reservation to 1.

Does anyone else think it is really sad how much so many here inherently questipm.what they are told by CMs? I used to feel like I got accurate information from CMs. Now. 9 times out of 10, I feel like I.know.more than the person on the phone.

We've been going for 10-ish yrs and this has always been the case -- learned that on DIS way back when -- especially when something new is introduced.

I can't figure out why they can't assure more consistency in training. Seems like a solvable problem.

That said, doesn't stop me from booking the new stuff and taking my chances! Again, I must be part of the problem...!

If you book for 1 adult and 1 child under 3 you won't have to pay for the child. Same cost as booking for one.

Doesn't surprise me. Looks like this is table seating with the villians coming to your table for photos (see the blog where the answer was yes to the question as to whether it is like a character meal where the villians come to your table for pics). WDW is charging $99 a person. For every 2 person table they fill with 1 person, they lose $99. For every 4 person table they fill with 1 person, they lose $297. I would do as the others say and call back and try to book for 2. You can either call back and remove 1, or make it a child under 3 to begin with so you are not charged anyway.

So that presented Disney with such a dilemma that the only possible solution they could come up with was to eliminate the mix and mingle? :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

They didn't eliminate Mix and Mingle. Dancers have been in rehearsals for the show. It will be the same show it has been for years. The villains just won't be coming down from the stage after the show for meet and greets. You will be able to meet them elsewhere in the park. Maleficent and Evil Queen will be in Fairy Tale Hall. Facillier and Cruella will be in Diamond Horseshoe. Queen of Hearts will be at Tea Cups. Captain Hook will be in Adventureland.

Perhaps you don't understand what the term "Mix and Mingle" meant. :confused3

I've been going about the same length of time as an adult, and I remember planning our anniversary trip in 2007 and it was not nearly as bad as it is now. It may not have been perfect, but I felt like i could trust what I was told more than I couldn't. Now I really feel like it's the opposite.

Obviously it doesn't stop me from going either, but it does make me scratch my head. Even with Disneyland we don't have the same issues...why can't WDW get its act together with this?

I don't know... It is odd to me. I wonder if the difference you've noticed is a result of the increase in new "special event" types of offerings? The NEW stuff always seems to throw them for a bigger loop...

Honestly, I don't know...yes the new stuff always throws them for a loop, but old stuff does too. It baffles me, really. I know there are some who would brand me a "hater" here, but I truly love Disney and WDW. Before this year I had *never* sent a letter to guest relations about anything. The only interaction I had with GR was going to praise a cast member (usually a character). I've sent 3 letters to Disney this year, and gotten phone calls back on all of them...I'm probably going to write a 4th as well, because of how poorly they have handled getting the 2014-15 AFS tickets out to bases. None of the bases near us expect to have them til mid-September (though they went on sale yesterday), and our FP+ booking date is Sept 8th. Just one more example of Disney not planning as well as they should have, and it affecting the guest's *ability* to do the advanced planning that Disney wants us to do.

Disney has never made me feel this frustrated before this year. I know I will have a great time once I'm at the parks and I won't even think about any of this, but I miss how fun planning used to be. I still get excited thinking about disney, but the fun is less..

This is NOT ok... that makes me mad, actually. I feel like AFS tix should be prioritized over almost anything else in this arena. :(

Glad you're still looking forward to your trip and the fun you know you'll have despite frustrations!! :)

Just booked October 2nd for 2 adults and one child. I'm excited about this! Hopefully the reviews are good!!

To be fair, I don't think that is Disney's fault. It's the individual bases and regional ITTs. Disney put the tickets on sale, on time, it's the bases' problem if they can't get their act together.

I explained this in the AFS thread, call ITT at NAS Jacksonville and order your tickets through them. You can have them in your hands by next Monday. I do this all of the time because my ITT is full of idiots and I hate doing business with them.

My friend and I are pretty excited about doing this. I plan to call on my lunch break and try to get us tickets. Even if it's terrible, at least I experienced it. That's how I like to look at it. Besides, it's our treat to ourselves since we're planning on going Oct 3 and the next night we're running the ToT 10 Miler. A little celebration before we torture ourselves :rotfl2:

Someone else said to book for 2 but make the other a child under 3 so they are free.

Just wondered what people's thoughts were on why the first few party nights having 2 seatings but not the rest?

Do you think they are testing to see if 2 consecutive sessions runs smoothly and if it does will add additional seatings to the other party nights?

It just seems odd to me that you would have 2 seatings on September 1st but only one on October 31st

September 1st is Labor Day. Probably a whole lot more people in the parks that week. That's my guess, and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I'm going to say the reason September dates have 2 Soirees and October dates have one is party attendance statistics. Labor Day may be crowded at WDW, but party attendance is quite low. They can rope off a larger area for parade and fireworks and not effect the overall crowd in the hub.

Lots of October dates do sell out, attendance is higher. If you are going to the Soirée on an October date, you are getting more exclusivity on a more crowded night. A smaller area would need to be dedicated for Soirée attendees.

Btw, I'm glad I reserved 2 seats yesterday, my night sold out. I kind of don't see this as anything but a PR nightmare. I'm betting on lots of angry parents that don't find out until they arrive at the party that this event within an event was available and see other people checking in at the Hub.

I do believe that Steve from.military Disney tips said at one point that Disney was part of the problem in getting tx out to the bases in time. That they didn't mobilize til after the renewal announcement (which was also later this year than it was last). Yes there is a holdup with the military side now, but that doesn't excuse Disney's delay in the first place. A week may not seem like a lot, but a week of extra time would have pretty much ensured I got my tx in time for the fp+ window. Instead, I have to wait and wonder.

I have contacted NAS Jacksonville. I was told they do not have tx yet either, but hope to have them by the end of the week or early next week. I have to fax them an authorization form, which I am doing tonight, and they will call us for a CC # when they have the tickets. They could not ensure that I would have the tx by the 8th. Just that it would be 2 days to mail them from whenever they come in.
