Villians Sinister Soirée

Btw, I'm glad I reserved 2 seats yesterday, my night sold out. I kind of don't see this as anything but a PR nightmare. I'm betting on lots of angry parents that don't find out until they arrive at the party that this event within an event was available and see other people checking in at the Hub.

What night do you have that sold out? I am trying to keep a list at the top of the thread. So far I have heard Oct. 10 & 31.

I don't understand... maybe I'm misinterpreting... you don't see the event that you paid extra for yesterday "as anything but a PR nightmare"?

I've been in WDW plenty of times where I see some group with bands of some sort attending an event I didn't know existed. Why in the world would I get up in arms about that? Maybe some people feel they have to be in on EVERYTHING, ALL THE TIME? I don't know...

I am SO Disappointed. I called as soon as I found out about the event this morning and couldn't get anything for 2 for 9/28.

I called back and tried for 3 and 4 and for 9/26 as well. My DBF is a HUGE villains fan and the main reason we are going at this time is for the Halloween Party FOR Villains Mix and Mingle.

If anyone cancels for 9/26 or 9/28 after the initial reviews please let me know so I can try and grab your ressie.

Thanks so much!

I really hope you get those tickets in time for your FP+ window. Can they give you the numbers of the tickets prior to you getting them, maybe in an email ?
Thank you for your family's service :goodvibes

Shoot! We're there Oct 16. Next time Disney springs a new event on us, let's coordinate!! :thumbsup2

Fingers crossed that it's a good one... I'll share thoughts here either way! :)

That's a good question...they have to call me for a CC# when the tx arrive to process the order...so presumably they would have the tickets there at that time. They might even be able to read them over the phone to me. I will definitely ask.

Thanks! :goodvibes

I think the previous poster is anticipating a PR nightmare when guests who were not previously notified that the package was available, or "sat on it" for awhile to give themselves time to decide, finally determine that they'd like to do it, only find out that it's sold out. Which is the case with anything exclusive, if you don't buy when they are available, you don't get. Each year I see someone who gets shut out of some food and wine events because they didn't know that you have to call for a lot of them as soon as booking opens, and they fill up almost immediately.

It's a similar case here where you have those who just found out about it today (although it was announced just yesterday) and are calling, only to learn their dates are already sold out.

Ah Ha ! The REAL reason behind the renaming of DTD What can we Spring on them next and how much can we get ;)

I see that this is a possibility -- I just don't get why people would be all that cranky about it. Does their MNSSHP experience now stink bc a small number of people are doing this other thing as well? (That's separate from the issue of whether they are removing offerings to feed the ticketed special-special event -- that's a different story.)

When I've seen these special events that I didn't know about, somehow I still have a good time! It doesn't anger me!

Look -- SOME people will get riled up over just about anything -- I do get that. I guess I doubt this will rise to level of a PR nightmare. Or even a PR hiccup. ;)

THANK YOU for posting that the M&M is of importance . Validates the frustration many are feeling due to it being dropped with short notice to the early season party go-er's. I know many would still book the Soiree' even if the M&M was still happening, but did you book it BECAUSE the M&M is no longer offered?

Was there that much love for the mix and mingle as a specific event or is there just concern that the villains will no longer be available to meet anywhere except for those who buy the package? There's no way to tell either way yet but they have already said that some will be available (at Fairytale Hall though, not as part of a group greet anymore)

Prior to this being announced, Disney said that the villains were combining with their princesses and that the toy story dance party is going to be villains instead. As far as I can tell, everybody but Frollo will still be meet able, in fact maybe even easier to meet with (or at least safer based on reports of being trampled at past parties :scared:).

I have not attended a MNSSHP before but as I "drive -by" character lover I was looking forward to it. I had no plans of waiting in lines, but to walk around and get a glimpse of each of them esp since more than 2 were going to be in a general area together. I like to get photo's of them in between guests lining up for their meet and greet. Again, I think the timing of pulling the M&M and adding the Soiree' is giving the illusion of one replacing the other and those of us who are attending the 1st party will be the guinea pigs. Just a skeevy sort of move...not sure, I would have to go back at all "special events" to see if others have dropped things when adding . Like, the Frozen gig...I know the back rides get closed early for fireworks and it kinda stinks, but bam there it is. however, no one has to pay extra to see the fireworks added.

I see, the event was important to you because it had villains all together and walking around with the guests. You are concerned that this will no longer happen. Which may be the case. They will probably still be around but channeled into specific areas where a line can form.

Of course there is no proof that the event would have remained even if there had been no Soiree...it sounds like they might want to have more crowd control.

The rides are closed for the fireworks for safety reasons because they are in the fallout zone, not because anybody is trying to deprive guests of the ability to ride TSM. The only way to avoid that would be for HS to have no fireworks at all. Which was the case except for July 4 and NYE until just recently. However, it can't be said with any certainty that the Villains Mix and Mingle would still be taking place if not for the Soiree although the timing does make it look that way. Could logically also be anticipated at this time that the villains are being removed from public greets to make a selling point for the soiree, although that's not necessarily the case either.

September 1st is Labor Day. Probably a whole lot more people in the parks that week. That's my guess, and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I'm going to say the reason September dates have 2 Soirees and October dates have one is party attendance statistics. Labor Day may be crowded at WDW, but party attendance is quite low. They can rope off a larger area for parade and fireworks and not effect the overall crowd in the hub.

Lots of October dates do sell out, attendance is higher. If you are going to the Soirée on an October date, you are getting more exclusivity on a more crowded night. A smaller area would need to be dedicated for Soirée attendees.

Ah, now that makes sense. I'm from the UK and hadn't considered Labor Day
Thanks for the input :goodvibes

The show is still taking place, they just are not coming down from the stage for the meet and greet opportunity after the show. I'm betting you will get a lot better pictures of them in the show itself, than you would trying to get pictures of them during the meet and greet. It is pretty difficult to walk around in the area because it is packed with people. It is a crowded pushing and shoving match around them after the show with very little room to take photos unless you are actually in line. Even though their lines are near each other, I think it would be hard to get more than one in the pic because there will be people and lines between them. I have seen some people not in the line trying to get to the front to snap photos, but unless you start right at the front, it doesn't look easy. You can get some great pics of them in the show if your camera does well in that kind of light. Also, now you can go get some pictures of at least some of them at the Dance party at Frontierland. (The Maleficent and Evil Queen meet and greet is inside Fantasy Faire, so they will be in a room and you would have to go through the line to get pics of them in their meet area)

yes, I know and agree with why the rides are closed at DHS. I also believe DHS should have stuck to what works and that is no FW at that park. Yes it is pretty, yes Frozen was a great movie, but that park is just not set up safely for it. My DD was at the SWW ones, eating ash lol. At any rate, I agree, we will not know until the first party, and even after that I'm sure things will continue to be adjusted. Disney needs to quit spit-balling with very expensive paper...our money. But, Fool me once......
