I saw the similar thread on WL, and thought I would start one to see why people did or did not like VWL. What can you tell me about views, rooms- we have a one bedroom-, CM's, convenience, and whatever else you have experienced there.

1B on 1st floor near the pools in the back has 2 patios right smack up against the bushes!

We love it here. The Villas rooms are extra nice and the Villas end of the Lodge is very lovely and quiet. You feel like you are away from it all yet you are actually right in the middle of all the fun. My children enjoy both pools, the pin cart in the lobby and the wonderful gift shop (which stocks basic grocery items, by the way). We like the selection of restaurants, including a "fast food" place for when we are busy. We enjoy the option of using a boat or bus to get around. We like that the lanterns flicker at night, and the sounds at night of bullfrogs and critters - even in the winter. We like renting boats and watching the EWP from the beach. This is a beautiful place, one of my favorite in the whole world, with wonderful sights and sounds to amaze you. When you walk into that grand lobby, and smell it's woodsy smell and hear the great music, I dare you not to fall in love!

Love the VWL! We had a two bedroom last month that was on the top floor and it had a cathedral ceiling in the master bedroom - simply beautiful. Pure luxury.

I like how it is quiet over at the villas, but yet if I want more noise, just a short walk over to the main lodge and I've got it.

Walt Disney's train cars in the VWL lobby are nice to see (on loan from the Disney family). These are train cars Walt used to ride around on with his kids in his backyard in California.

The padded rocking chairs are the best. And if you want to work out, Sturdy Branches (health club) is located at the VWL lobby.

Views at the VWL are pretty much all woods views from what I understand. As for the 1bdrm villa...you're going to love it. It will not compare to a regular room at the WL. You'll have a full kitchen with all the ammenities (dishwasher, microwave, stove, fridge, pots & pans, plates, utensils,glasses,etc.etc.). You'll also have a living room with a pull out sofa bed,a patio/balcony,a master bdrm with a king size bed,in room washer and dryer, bathroom with a stand up shower, jacuzzi tub, toilet & sink. Between the extra space and the awesome ammenities you're going to love it!

Enjoy!

We are going to stay at the Villas in April. We love the WL and we are looking forward to giving the Villas a try. We are going to be at WDW for three weeks and I orginally wanted to stay at OKW so we could get away from it all. I have family that will be staying at the WL so we thought we'd give the Villas a try. It's nice hearing that Villa's have a quiter pace about it.
How comfortable is the sofa bed?

All of the views from VWL are not woods views. We had a 1bd in December and it overlooked the villas pool and we could watch the EWP from our balcony. Even overlooking the pool it was still very peaceful and we love it there, that's why we own there.

Like the previous poster said, once you walk into that grand lobby, you fall in love with the place! It has only been 2 months since we were there and we can't wait to go back! Another great thing about VWL is that it is smaller and not as spread out as OKW, SSR and some others. Even though it seems like you are away from it all and it is peaceful, anything that you want is just a few short steps away(pool, food, store, bus stop, boat dock, etc.).

On the trip before that one we had a 1 bd that overlooked the front of the resort and the bus stop on the 1st floor. At first I thought it would be noisy and a lot of traffic. Much to my surprise it was wonderful. We didn't even notice the buses or the traffic walking on the walkway from the main lodge. Also, like the previous poster mentioned, the extra room and amenities that you get in the 1 bd are so worth it. As the children get older it is so nice to have that extra space.

Have a great time!

Domestic Goddess- do you remember your room number, or what floor you were on to be able to see the EWP?

Don't forget to ask about being a Flag FAmily -- we did that in Sep 04 and it was neat. Great views from the roof.

Our 1 BDR overlooked the WL itself and was nice for a family of 3. OKW was much bigger but this had a better location, the resturants next door.

Half the time we took the boat to CR and took the monorail from there, although the bus stop is right outside the VWL and convenient. Parking SEEMED far away, although I don't know why, because it isn't, but it just SEEMED like it was :goodvibes
