Hi

My DH and I are going on our first trip to WDW in 3 weeks. We have booked a 3 bed villa with pool for the two of us at a really good rate (£750 for the two weeks).

But...my concern is those darn Hurricanes. They are predicting quite a few over the next few weeks and although i'm sure it won't completely kill the holiday (one hopes!) I am expecting to lose a day or two because of this. But what I don't want is for us to be stuck in a house alone, no electricity etc when in a hotel they might have back up generators, you'd have others to speak with etc.

Some of you have mentioned being around during Hurricanes. Are you really confined to your house and do you think you'd feel safer in a house or a hotel?

I'm probably worrying for nothing but would really appreciate your views/opinions on this.

I think it is only Disney that have back up generators for the hotels. Last year a lot of non site lost their power during one of the hurricanes.

There was a site listed here that gave you tips on what to do in the event of a hurricane. Run a search and get the tips.

Personally I would feel safer in a hotel though this is of no comfort to yourself. I know the hotel we stayed in this year did a good job of looking after guests during a hurricane last year from what I have read in hotel reviews.

The main thing is to be prepared if one is coming your way. I don't think as a rule Orlando gets hit hard by hurricanes it is usually coastal towns that are more affected, with Orlando getting heavy rain/winds.

as wicket says it is very unusual for kissimmee and surrounding areas to be hit by a hurricane, i know it happened last year!
stick with your villa, dont worry about what may or may not happen , go and have a great holiday!
my sil was staying in a villa in kissimmee last year when the hurricane came, she said that they were all fine, and just stayed inside (obviously!) until it passed. you wont be stuck on your own as youll be in a villa community.
try not to worry. :grouphug:

OK thanks for that. :flower:

I think you're right, i'm probably worrying for nothing!
