We are looking at renting a villa dec/jan. There are so much to choose from!
What would be the best locations to look at? We will be doing a couple of disney parks and maybe discovery cove. We are a family of 5 which includes 3 teenagers, although the wife would say that i'm number 4!
Thanks for any info

Hi
We stayed in Orange Tree when we stayed offsite. This is one of the communities off the 27 but for me personally I felt a little bit out of the way. We booked with Orlando Villas and the link below should take you to their site and a map of all of the villa communities so you'll be able to see how near to all the attractions the various villas are.

We just love Windsor Palms which is in the Formosa Gardens area. It is just off the 192 and about ten minutes from disney. It is a quiet road with great shopping and dining. I wish I could go back tomorrow!!! Have a great time.

Hi,

Kissimmee would be my choice.

There are 2 main areas Formosa Gardens Boulevard and Poinciana Boulevard.
Both are good choices, close to supermarkets, restaurants, Disney and the I4.
If you choose a villa in either of these areas you will be ok location wise, though some of the homes down Poinciana can be a bit further afield.

Davenport area personally I think is too far south, whilst many developments on the US27 are a bit isolated.

Thanks for all the replies folks. What do you think of Indian Point? Have seen a couple of villas there that look ok.
Just love the planning part of a holiday -:banana::banana:

Hi,

We have stayed at Indian Point but several years ago.

It is quite old and also a fair way down Poinciana, if you want an honest opinion it wouldn't be one of the places on my list of favourites, and it is not gated either.
There are nicer developments in the Kissimmee area.

Thanks for your reply JohnnnySharp2, always a fountain of information he he

Hi there

I would recommend Lake Berkely. It is a gated community behind Medival Times just off the 192. There is a big Walmart close by too. We have stayed there once and tried to get another villa there for our last visit but they were all booked. I was gutted. We ended up way down at the bottom of Poinciana Bld and it added an extra 15 minutes drive time, never again.

Has anyone stayed at Chatham Place in the Kissimee area? Was wondering what the location was like. I know it is a gated community but what are the villas like around there?
Thanks for any info

Yes stayed there on our last 3 or 3 trips, so I guess you could say we like it! It's a little bit further down Ponciana but we don't mind that. The villas that we have stayed in have always been lovely, probablu a 20 - 25 minute trip from there to WDW, a bit further to Universal etc.

Gems :)

Thanks for the info. Being used to the I-Drive we are a bit wary of staying anywhere else so thanks for the thumbs up on Chatham Place,it will be definately a place we will look more into

You mean Chatham Park Biggy?

It is not gated - or at least wasn't when we stayed there. :)

It is well located , if the home is nice and appeals to you then you will be fine.
I would still prefer the likes of Winsdor Palms with it's communal facilities and gated security, but that's just my opinion.

As always JohnnySharp you are the fountain of information, he he. What would be your advice on Indian Creek? It isn't far from Formosa Gardens. Sorry to keep asking you but you seem to have a good knowledge of the area and also all the other areas i have asked you about have become unavailable.
Many thanks

As Johnny says the villa complexes on the 27 are a bit isolated, well thats what i think also! Chatham Park is quite a big villa estate, and has a security patrol car doing the rounds on it, they are older villas, and are very nice, montego bay villas is near it to. being at this end of the 192 is good, as you only have to go across the 192 to get on the osceola parkway-straight to disney

Yes I remember this now we used to use a bit of a short cut to get out to Osceola Parkway, plus if you go down some local roads you can get to the 192 about half way down by where the Nike Outlet is. There is also another shortcut to come out by Walmart so it's a nice central place to be we think.

It is Chatham park, one of the roads is called Chatham Place, and there is also Chatham Circle. We have never found it not being gated being a problem, as Netty says there is a security guard and he lives in a little hut at the entrance to the estate so you can go and see him if there is any problem, another thing that we like is that many of the houses are occupied and are actual full time homes rather than holiday lets, we have always found the people in the local communities to be very friendly too.

We are staying at Eagle Pointe this January which is the next development down to Chatham and is very much the same, lovely place to be.

I would definately stay in the Windsor hills, Windsor Palms formosa areas.
These are definately the closest to the parkswith easy accss. Gated communities with community pools and private pools also.
No other choice for me

Chatham park also has a childrens playground , tennis and basketball courts , large community pool and two conservation lakes that you can walk around and view local wildlife like eagels , turtles , crane , but not aligators .

Hi, no problems. :)

We have stayed at Indian Creek several times. I like the location as you are just minutes off the 192, a Publix less than a mile away and WDW is around 10 minutes. With I4 access closeby it's an ideal place to stay.
It is also close to the Outback restuarant, which for us is a big plus.
Whilst I like staying down Poinciana Boulevard, I have a slight preference for the Formosa Gardens area, so in that respect Indian Creek is in the right place, I just wish they would do something with the old Splendid China area, they could do with a nice mall or shopping centre there.

If I am honest now that we have stayed at IC a few times we would probably look at Windsor Hills and Windsor Palms next time, mainly for some variety as we haven't stayed at either before, they are also gated and have communal pool and more.
Don't know what it is exactly but once you have stayed at a gated 'resort' that has clubhouse facilities, you do kind of feel it is a step backwards if your development does not have these - though naturally that's a personal opinion and not something I had really thought too much about until recent holidays.

Overall though Indian Creek is a nice place to stay and very well located, if you find a villa you like there then it's a sound choice.
The villas aren't the newest but not the oldest either, I would describe it in 'football terms' as being candidate's for the play-offs rather than Championship contenders.

I have several photos of IC if you would like to see some, send me a pm. ;)

Don't you worry about a fence around the villa anymore Johnny? I notice most gated resorts don't offer vilas with fences.
