Villa locations...

I know what you mean, we have stayed at Indian Creek a few times and we liked it there.
However, things got too familiar and I think we needed a change.

Personally and in hindsight I don't think I could stay on a non-gated community any more, and if having facilities of some nature go with it then that's all the better.
To be honest it does surprise me that more don't have at least a clubhouse pool or something, with all the Timeshare type resorts available these days especially.

We would not stay on a non-gated community either. Although I do worry for some people it may possibly give a false sense of security. Since we had an attempted break in, in the middle of the night on a villa we were staying at in Portugal a couple of years ago, we are so over the top on security it's laughable!

We haven't really felt the need for any communcal facilities up til now to be honest as we would always be out and about in the daytime but given we are thinking of going for three weeks and spending some time relaxing, it would just be nice to have somewhere to stroll to and perhaps DH could have a couple of drinks etc rather than waiting til we get back to the villa, although he has never complained.......

Thanks for all your feedback.

Hi Ali

All the villa communities are great, but Formosa Gardens is rare because of the large plot sizes. There are many other home owners to chose from who have small homes on the community.

However, its occasions like this, that sometimes force you into a change that you'll never look back on. This could either be a different homeowner within Formosa, or even a completely different community all together.

If your after closeness to disney, and you've already discarded the other communities in the Formosa Gardens area, then perhaps look around the Poinciana Blvd area, as these can be nearly as quick to get to disney.

I know what you mean that the walk up Formosa Gardens Blvd not being very nice, as the main view the 3/4 of the way is the now derelict China Gardens on one side and sandy/weedy land on the other.

I'm not sure when your going but Rolling Oaks Common is opening in March/April (2 miles from Formosa Gardens), and this has a new Super Target and 2 - 3 new restaurants including an Olive Garden.

Good Luck with your villa search, perhaps you could let us all know who you normally book your villa with, and who you use this time.

Hi Paul,

I think we've had a 'discussion' on who we use for villa rental before and on the past two occasions we have used villatorent.net. Their smaller villas on FG are all booked up for Feb 2010, they have offered me a good discount off 'Oyster Cay' which we stayed at in Jan 08 but my parents were with us on that trip so we needed more space. This year and for our next trip it's just the four of us so can't really justify renting such a huge place although it was fab!

I have found another villa company but I've saved it to my favourties at work so can't remember the name, but I've asked for a couple of quotes from them and I also need to start hunting around - I'll report back soon!

Who have you booked with if you don't mind me asking??

One point - you could order delivery to your villa - when we stayed at WH we got pizza from Giordanos that's near FG.
