Villa Locations

We've stayed in hotels on all of our trips and always found the locations excellent for accessing the parks - Residence Inn @ Seaworld, ASMo and HI Nikki Bird on the 192

Now considering a villa for our next trip in 2008 because my brother's family are coming. I have various links to websites but would prefer a location with easy access to the parks.

It seems to me that most locations tend to be at the western of the US 192 and down the US27. The former seems OK but the latter seem a bit of a drive. I suppose I'd like to get to WDW in 10-15 mins.

Where do you recommend as the best locations ?

Garry

We've stayed on US27 twice now and you're right about it being "a bit of a drive" to WDW. US27 wasn't the problem, it was a combination of traffic and roadworks on the 192 / I4 that lead to the the delays.

This is why we've chosen to spend our next holiday at a villa on the Indian Creek resort which is much closer to WDW and Orlando. Although we won't be staying there until next year I do know the 192 very well from our previous visits. Using this knowledge I know that it should be far easier and quicker to get to and from the parks.

I like Indian Creek but it now has a wacking great motorway running right through the middle of it :-((

Try Emerald Island resort it is probably the best and closest.

Haven't been before but we have booked Windsor Hills for Christmas just off the 192. Apparently there is a short cut to Disney & it's only a 10 minute drive. We will have to see if this is right but quite :sunny: a few people have said this.

We stayed just off junction 58, I4 at Sandy Ridge. We had no problems getting into Disney, as they have the new junction 62. The villa was in a nice pieceful area, near to Reunion and Champoins Gate resorts, and only 10 minutes to Disney.

Hi,

We usually stay at Indian Ridge which is 192 west, ideally situated for everything and within the vicinity that you are looking in. We managed to find a great villa as follows:-

holidaylettings co uk
Property id:5751

We have stayed here already for this year and have booked again for next year. I cannot fault this accommodation at all, it caters for all my needs, children and all. This property will not disappoint you if available.

Good luck in finding accommodation. :thumbsup2

Windsor Hills is the closest. It has community pool and games room.

There are private Villas and Condos.

Last time we stayed at Windsor Palms in a beautiful villa & we think it's a great location. Literally 10 mins from Disney with a supermarket & restaurants nearby.

Would def look to stay there again

Our "resident villa location expert", aka Johnny Sharpe, is away in Floriday at the moment ;)

We've only ever stayed in a villa once in all our trips - and that was last year. We stayed at Eagle Point, down Ponciana Blvd. Loved it and the location.

We would be more than happy to return there, but our friends who will be accompanying us next year want somewhere a little bit closer so their kids can have pool play in the afternoons before hitting the parks again (we did this from Eagle Point last year no problem). So we're looking into the Formosa Gardens area.

Good luck with the searching - as long as you've got a few days to spare to trawl through all the gorgeous villas out there . . . . :thumbsup2

I happened accross this Villa today situated on highway 27 , just north of the junction with highway 192 in High Grove development:

It says 10 minutes to Disney. Looks very nice with own pool and games room.

(Not stayed there so don't know what it is really like though.)

stayed at Ponciana Blvd,Boggy Creek Road, just behind the 192 at the John Young Parkway and Hwy 27

All fine except the Hwy 27 one. as Andru said traffic. It was horrendous and we felt it took forever to get anywhere as we love to go out at night for meals as this is part of our holiday and we never did that very often, to much hassle.

The sub-divisions around Formosa Gardens Boulevard (situated at the bottom left-hand corner of WDW property) are the closest - some villas are genuinely 5 minutes using the Sherberth Road shortcut. Of course, that only gets you onto WDW property (to the Osceola Parkway at its most westerly point between AKL and AK)- you then need to travel to your final destination. Magic Kingdom is the furthest away and, by the time you've parked at the TTC and got to the park itself, you're probably looking at 30 minutes. The same applies to most offsite locations, though.

Travelling east along the 192, at Disney's bottom right-hand corner, you have the sub-dvisions off Poinciana Boulevard. These are a little further out, but when we stayed there, we felt it didn't make a discernable difference. You don't need to touch the 192 (other than to drive straight across it where it meets Poinciana Blvd). You then join the Osceola Parkway and travel west for a short distance before entering WDW property.

If you're far enough down the US27, you can hop on the I-4 and avoid the 192 altogether. We stayed at Reunion in January, which is about half a mile from exit 58. Championsgate is the same distance in the opposite direction. There are several other smaller developments nearby, including Sandy Ridge which castanea1985 mentions. Being that close to the I-4, we found this location as convenient as any we've stayed at, particularly as we visit several places other than Disney.

I've stayed at IC before. So wheres the new motorway run to/from?

From what I rememebr there was just one road perpendicular to 192 that ran past the old splendid China to IC. Nothing much parallel to 192 apart from a dirt track !!!

It is the new state road 429, a 6 lane toll road and it runs smack bang right through the middle of Indian Creek, actually cutting IC in half, you use a bridge within the community to go over it. The dirt track that you refer to is now a tarmac road that runs right up to Lindfields.

It is nice and it is expensive but you do get what you pay for, and there are deals to be had.

There is no such thing as a villa (or anything else for that matter) on US27 that is 10 minutes from Disney.

It's the Western Beltway which runs from the Turnpike to just south of the 192. Part of it is already open. There will be an intersection with the 192 next to Publix. Western Way (Disney's road which connects with it), will bring you into WDW between MGM and Blizzard Beach. I think that section is slated to open in December.

10 minutes with a running start and average speed of about 80mph with no traffic and traffic lights maybe. More like 30+ minutes I reckon (more in the summmer months with increased traffic on 192).

Agreed.... LOL.
