Villa Locations

It is the new state road 429, a 6 lane toll road and it runs smack bang right through the middle of Indian Creek, actually cutting IC in half, you use a bridge within the community to go over it. The dirt track that you refer to is now a tarmac road that runs right up to Lindfields.

Pity. I used to like IC. Nice and quiet yet minutes away from the action.

I'll have to have a look on multimap or somthing !

I used to like the dirt track as welll....

There is no such thing as a villa (or anything else for that matter) on US27 that is 10 minutes from Disney
I agree that most owners who claim their villas on the 27 are 10 minutes from Disney are deluding themselves. However, it is possible to be on Disney property withiin 10 minutes if you are staying at one of the communities right next to the junction of the 27 and the I-4. You can cover a lot of ground on that section of the I-4 in a short space of time. If you are on one of the communites further north and have to take the 27 to the 192, you'll be stopping at lights every other block, so even if the traffic is light, it can be tortuous.

Is the Funie Steed Road now also tarmacced in the opposite direction travelling from Formosa Gardens Blvd to Entry Point Road?

I think when people say that they are 10 minutes from disney out on 27 they might be around 10 miles so it would make sense that they are 10 minutes. In reality the lights, not going 60 mph, traffic and such brings it to at least 30 min.

We own in EI and it takes us 10 minutes from there and we are less then 3 miles away. So I do know it can not possibly take 10 min from 27. But the prices to be had for a little inconvience might be just the ticket.

Ive stayed in a number of locations, and prefer to be in a central point between the Universal / Idrive attractions and the Disney attractions. For this reason I like to stay in the LBV location (ish). This year we stayed at the Terra Verde (I seem to rememeber Johhny has also also stayed there), and it was pretty much perfect for me. I'll be looking to stay there again for sure.
Ive never stayed in the US27 area, and just out of interest I took a drive down there to have a look, and was horrified at just how far away it actualy was, and how long it took to get there....I was quite relieved as a couple of villa's there were on worr lass's shortlist.

Hi All

Funie Steed Road is still sand (we were there 2 weeks ago), but is the way to go from the Formosa Gardens area to miss out the 192 all together.

From the entrance gates of Formosa Gardens Estates to AK arch by car using Sherbeth Road is 2.6 miles. If you don't get stuck at the lights at the Sherbeth Rd, 192 intersection it can be done in 5 mins if you break the speed limits :rolleyes1

To Epcot you can add another 3-6 mins, depending on how long you spend waiting to turning left onto World Drive from Osceola Parkway.

MGM is another 2 or 3 mins

From the 27, you can use Sherbeth Road and then Back Lane, which brings you out a few miles further west on the 192, however, there are still at least 10 sets of lights to get through. Travelling down Back Lane takes about 2-3 mins, and you can easily add another 10 mins to get to the 27 from Back Lane.

We stayed just off junction 58, I4 at Sandy Ridge. We had no problems getting into Disney, as they have the new junction 62. The villa was in a nice pieceful area, near to Reunion and Champoins Gate resorts, and only 10 minutes to Disney.

This year we stayed in a villa at Sanctuary Westhaven. It was lovely and would highly recommend it. We timed getting in our car at the villa to getting out our car in the parking lot using these junctions. We were never more than 20 minutes often much less, honestly :thumbsup2 .

We've booked to stay at the same location next year - different villa cos there are more of us going but the location is fabulous!

I am not sure about travelling East on Funie to Entry Point as I did not drive it in June but I can assure you that west on Funie from Formosa Gardens past Oak Island, Emerald Island and Sunset Lakes up to Lindfields is definitely now a road and not sand.

Ditto :-((

We have a three bedroom executive villa with pool booked with TCD this October.

Now, despite lots of calls to TCD, they cannot, or more accuratley, won't tell me where our villa actually is!

They tell me that the actual location is not finailised until we arrive, which clearly is complete cr_p, but as yet all I have been able to get out of them is a list of possible locations?

These are Four corners, Tuscan Ridge, Westbury, Westhaven, Sandy Ridge, Town Centre.

Has anyone manged to get this information out of TCD prior to arrival at Sanford??

Thanks
Stephen

Yes, it has been for some time. Just thought that, if the other stretch hasn't yet been made up (and it hadn't last time we were there) Paul might still be able to get his 'dirt track' fix! :teeth:

When the sand is dry and you go reasonbly fast, its like driving on ice - well it wasn't my car :teeth:

I was told by another owner that they deliberatly drive tractors up and down the sand, to leave big ridges to slow drivers down (perhaps they mean me  )

I was also told that when the building work nearby is complete then it will be upgraded to tarmac

I've always enjoyed driving on it, like a bit of rear wheel drift!!

Dont suppose you're renting 9th to 23rd OCtober ???/ :-)

We do have some one there for some of the dates you are looking for sorry about that. Unless you are looking for 2007? I will PM you our web site.

we have just come back from florida :guilty: and we stayed in a villa just off the 192 on seven dwarfs lane. this was ideally situated and the villa community was gated and was a small estate, only 2 roads of houses on it! would recommend it!
