What time should I claim my spot if I'm planning on watching parade from the RR station/town square area?
We always watch the parade from main st, thought it would be a good spot to try. or will it be crazy area from people leaving/entering?

The pre-arrival time needed to secure a RR Station railing viewing position can vary from about 1 hour to up to 2-3 hours (and more,) depending on all kinds of variables.

Viewing the PARADE from the Town Square and/or RR Station is a fine idea.
Viewing the FIREWORKS (and Celebrate the Magic) from the Town Square and/or RR Station is not a good plan.

I hope you don't mean tonight I got here at 540 and it was all booked up.

We've walked up there as the parade started and had no problem finding a place to stand, right on the rail.

It's not as fun as you would think. You can't really interact with the parade from up there.

We were up at the train station to the left and were told we couldn't stand there

You must have been standing in the actual unloading area of the train station.
Guests are not allowed to loiter there to watch Main Street events.

But-
What we are discussing is the front-and-center train station balcony that directly overlooks Town Square (flagpole area.)
That balcony is fully available for guests who want to view anything on Main Street.

I was afraid it would be a long wait, and not a good view of fireworks. I will have to come up with another plan.

not tonight, April/December trips. ouch 5:40:scared:

I wondering if jesse8931 was talking about the FASTPASS+ viewing,
as you specifically asked about the "town square area" in your original post,
and that's the current FP+ reserved viewing spot.

It would be all booked easily by 5:40 (and, likely weeks in advance,)

oh, I didn't know it was the FP+ viewing. I'm not planning on using my FP+ for parade or fireworks, unless I can grab one as my 4th/5th options.
