Viewing Illuminations

hi. Where's the best place outside of Epcot to see Illuminations? Is it possible to see any of it? I have a friend who isn't doing Epcot this trip but was wondering if they could still see the fireworks from somewhere.

Unlike MK's Wishes fireworks, IllumiNations can't really be seen outside of World Showcase.

Wishes is nearly entirely fireworks, but IllumiNations is a story-telling spectacular with most effects at "water-level" and has relatively few high-flying fireworks.

Somewhat related...I read that you can see them from the beach near Old Port Royale at CBR. I feel like it was in an older guide book, so is this (still) true?

ETA: The fireworks, obviously not the fire and fountains, etc.

A few of the higher ones. But most of the show will be missed. It isn't worth driving to CBR to see.

We are staying there, so I was curious when I read it...not that I can't walk over to find out in person. Thanks!

Again, this is just the highest fireworks. You would miss most of the show even from the Epcot resorts.

You would not only miss the visual of the lower aspects of the show, but the music is so integral to the show that I can't imagine really getting anything out of watching it outside the parks.

The bridge between ESPN and the Beach Club is nice since you can hear the music.

Perhaps, but IMO, it's not worth going out of your way for. It's not really a fireworks show and doesn't have the same impact seeing Wishes would outside of the park.
