Okay...read thru the posts..which were terribly long and little to do about S/D facts (cruise photos??? don't get it on the S/D thread)...anyway I digress....what is the view from the Swan like. I understand the view from the Dolphin can be great...Epcot/Illuminations/TOT/MGM...but not much mentioned about Swan other than..."I could see the BW..." I'm leaning toward Swan b/c of larger bed and 2 sinks but I LOVE the idea of the great view....anyone know??? Thanks!!

The Swan offers a variety of views. We've stayed there a few times and can tell you that we really enjoyed a view from a high floor on the back side, facing MGM. You get a great view of the canal between MGM and the S/D. A corner room affords two large ceiling to floor windows that offer an even better view. There are also views of the lagoon between the Swan and Dolphin Hope this helps.....

We were at the Swan a few weeks ago. We had requested a balcony room. I forget how high up we were, but our view was great. We could see two sets of fireworks. One at 7 and Illuminations at 9.

It seemed to me that the one at 7 was Wishes, but I guess it is more likely it was from MGM ? I just never figured out what we were seeing, because it did seem to last too long to be the MGM ones.

We just returned from the Swan and had a view of TOT.

If you look at the photos up at the top of this forum,

Picture #1 - this is the side of the Swan that is actually facing the Dolphin. Your view would be of the Dolphin as shown in the top right photo (only more straight on). (Fireworks are faked out in photo). The side wings would have more limited views of not much of anything. Lap pool on outside of right shown wing. Boardwalk entrance on left side of left shown wing. The walkway to the Dolphin comes out between the two wings. If you walk out from the right wing in the photo & go thru the palm trees you will walk around the pond to the swimming pool and back around to the Dolphin. The center photo (small one) shows the side of the Swan that faces the parking lot. We were up at the top left #1262 just to the left of the black center panel on the building. We could see the back side of the boardwalk, the top of the Epcot ball to the left. Straight out was the parking lot (Whoopee!!) and to the right was the TOT & the Fantasmic auditorium (you could not really see the show at night). To me the distance is enough that nothing is an outright spectacular view but it is very pleasant. Does that make sense? I didn't worry too much about our view (horrible thing to say). We watched our fireworks at Epcot and DS was the only one who watched at all from the hotel (he HATES loud noises - I did that when he was young by dragging him to a fireworks display). He went out on a very small balcony off one end of the building facing towards the boardwalk and could see a small part of them from there. Now I am not saying I would want a dumpster view, but you get the idea. I don't sit in the room and stare out the window. Now at Animal Kingdom it might be another story.

And you can see what happened here - same thing as happens to us on the S/D thread. ......I started rattling on and on and on and on. But seriously, if you want to visit our thread, don't be afraid of asking a question. We love to answer them. In between the questions we just love to chat - we have all become friends and we have a tendency to get carried away. But everyone is welcome - normally we will get you an aswer in a page or two. If not, say WAKE UP - listen to me and ask again!!

Thanks jgates..it was just getting tough to figure out what the thread had to do with S/D info...I guess I was getting frustrated. I'm just trying to figure out which one to stay at this point. I think the view from the Dolphin maybe better so I'll probably end up there. Thanks again to everyone!

I really enjoyed our Swan stay this past July. We had a jr. suite with balcony in the east wing -6th floor. Our view was of the Dolphin and the water ways. The view was lovely particularly at night. I liked watching the Frienship launches come and go from our window and balcony.

Our Dolphin stay in August 02 did not give us a nice view. Our view was of the roof of the convention center and the bus stop. I wasn't complaining because we were given a comp upgrade to CL - 12th floor. The view was immaterial to us on that trip.

I encourage you as has jgates to pop in on the S/D thread with any questions - we love to answer them. As jgates said, we are friends and just get chatting away with everyday life but our favorite subject is the S/D.

I have pictures of the Swan views we had. If you would like to see them, I will be glad to post them.
