This video on the Passporter site shows the verandah for room 7022, an obstructed 5C verandah. They take some video looking down on the extended parts of the 5E verandahs below. I know there were lots of folks looking for this shot, so thought it would be good to point out.

The extended verandah you see is actually room 5026, which is down and one room over. Directly down from 7022 is room 5024, and you can clearly see (37 second mark) that it does not have the extended verandah, as discussed in the Special Rooms thread. The equivalent rooms on the right side of the ship are 7520, 5524 and 5526.

Timon/Cass also posted some great pictures of the starboard side extended verandahs, which are included in this post:

Thank you for posting this. I wondered about that when looking at the rooms. I didn't know about extended verandas; however, since when I was booking I was in my car in a parking lot. I need to get one of those deck plan brochures...

Thank you again, your video was really helpful!

Yes, they extended most of the 5E verandahs all the way out to the edge of the Dream's large "hips", which wasn't shown in the original artist drawings, but they must have realized that otherwise the folks in those verandahs would only get to look straight out at the top of the "hips" but not be able to look down at all.

I say most, because the very first 5E room on either side of the ship (5024/5524) did not get the extension (and got further cursed with a heavily obstructed verandah as it is!)

Thanks for posting the video clip; it was interesting to see an actual view. Now I understand why there was so much talk about the "extended" verandahs; the regular verandah she was on was tiny! :lmao: I'm still excited about my first cruise though! (tiny verandah & all ;))

We stayed in 5024 and it should not be classified as a 5E.
I did not mind the wall view as much as 5026's verandah sticking out way past ours. There was no privacy on the verandah and we wondered about in our room also. Luckily no one was in that stateroom.

Wow- so everyone higher up has the view of 5E verandahs or life boats instead of the water hitting the ship??? Wild. That makes me even more glad for getting a Cat 6 aft verandah.....I saw the Inside the Magic pics on those - looks like more room outside than inside almost  I wonder how booking will be affected in a few months once all of these room reports & videos come out. Surely DCL is going to have to reclassify some.

Interestingly enough, but I wonder how "sought after" some of those rooms would be even if cheaper.....I love booking the secret verandah rooms on the Magic/Wonder, but don't know that I would like these.

Agreed. 5024 (and it's mate across the ship) should not be the same category as the room next to it. We'd identified the verandah problems back in November/December, and were able to help some folks switch out of it. Sorry we didn't get to you!

Yes, due to the Dream's wide "hips" the only people who have a hope of looking down at water are the folks on the extended 5E verandahs, but they do so in full view of the folks above!

Even the 6A aft rooms won't have a direct view down onto the water, so I hope that wasn't a make or break requirement for you. Your best chance for a water view is probably on Deck 7, since those rooms just out the furthest. But the higher aft decks have views of the decks below, and the lower decks have the double railings to keep you from getting all the way to the edge of the railing.

Wow, I am sooo glad I changed out our cabin. When I booked the Fantasy, I just took the cat 5E cabin it gave me, as I had no idea what would be best. Then, when I read a post earlier this week about better cabins for less noise, I switched to 5156. I hope we like it! I'm not crazy about the upper decks being able to see down on us, but I like the idea of an extended verandah...anyone know how much bigger they might be? Plus, we don't usually do anything embarrassing on our verandah so no worries there - :rotfl:

We can't wait to use our extended verandah! We don't mind the fact that people will be able to look down on us - we'll just have to keep all the private activities limited to right outside our door and not at the railing.:rotfl2:

We knew that we wouldn't see the water from the Cat 6 aft verandahs....we are totally cool with that. We did avoid deck 10 in the room choices because of the overhang, though.

So, I am getting that there are no verandah rooms on the Dream that look directly down to the water (vs another verandah or a lifeboat), or not onto someone else's balcony? It's not like we are recluses, and need all of this privacy like big celebrities

Well I am jumping in here because I am really curious about this issue. Is there a thread I can refer to about the verandah cabins? It looks like most of the ship is Verandah cabins. We are in an Inside room for our trip in April but I am thinking of upgrading to a Verandah room to surprise my hubby, but I don't want to do this if we get on the verandah and can't see the water. Not quite sure what to expect out of a verandah room since we have only stayed in oceanview. Any advice? From this thread it sounds like there is limited "nice" verhandahs.

Here is the best thread with lots of chatter about the verandah rooms.

Plus if you watch the video in post 1 of this thread you'll see what they mean by not being able to look down and see ocean. It doesn't mean you can't see the ocean it just means you can look 'straight down' and see ocean you'll see either a verandah or the life boats. You have to look out a little bit.

I don't think you would be disappointed. Some do like looking straight down and seeing where the boat cuts the water. The only cabin on the Dream where you might be able to do that are the concierge rooms that have verandahs that stick out from the ship.

The AFT verandah's taper up to the top of the ship so you can't really see straight down from those either. The bottom two decks (5 & 6) have double rails to prevent little ones from climbing over the side.

As luck would have it, we booked 5164 just this week for May. I had no idea about the extended verandah thing, but it looks like we will have it, correct? In the video, it shows a "half" white wall "divider" on the verandah. Does anyone know what this is? I am hoping it is not the divider between two verandahs, as it does not extend to the edge.

We were on the training cruise so we had no idea where we would end up. We would have been happy with an inside room. It did not matter to us since there was so much to see and do on the ship.
We could not use the varandah anyways very much since they were working on refinishing the floors on ours, 5026 and 5028.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this!! I have been wanting to see them!! We have 5664 in a month!! :)

From what I have read is you will not have the extended verandah in that room. It is the same as the one discussed above that the video looks directly down on but on the other side of the ship. I probably would switch cabins. The extended cabins are (please someone correct me if I am wrong): 5150-5162, 5050-5662. 5164 & 5664 have limited views because their verandahs are not extended and you cannot look down from your verandah at all because of the 'hips' on the ship.

The rooms ending in 64 have to be the extended verandahs as there is no obstruction by the ship. What does everyone think? We have 5664 next month and I will be ticked if it isn't the extended verandah!

Well, here's the thread that are almost rooms to avoid, or at least until they get reclassified: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2628836 I bumped it to the top of the forum.

The other thread (listed on page 1 of this thread) about the Dreams rooms with the index is really good. HallsofVA did great R&D!!

I don't think 5664 has the extended verandah. Look at this post (6th picture down):
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=38775996&postcount=1

See that 5664 is right below the obstructed verandah in the video on the top of this page. Then at 34 seconds see where they pan down from the ship and directly below their verandah there is no extended verandah. So I am pretty sure your verandah is not extended.

The video in this post is taken from the forward of the ship. 5664 is the furthest aft verandah, so it can't be seen in the video.
