View down on Dream 5E extended verandah 5026 and others! (inc. non-ext. 5024)

Well I am jumping in here because I am really curious about this issue. Is there a thread I can refer to about the verandah cabins? It looks like most of the ship is Verandah cabins. We are in an Inside room for our trip in April but I am thinking of upgrading to a Verandah room to surprise my hubby, but I don't want to do this if we get on the verandah and can't see the water. Not quite sure what to expect out of a verandah room since we have only stayed in oceanview. Any advice? From this thread it sounds like there is limited "nice" verhandahs.

These could be two of the most boring pictures in the world, but they were taken looking straight down from our Cat 4E verandah room 8594 on the Magic on the WBTA in September. This is the picture you won't be able to get on the Dream/Fantasy, unless you're in a 5E room with the extended verandah, or perhaps you're in one of the concierge rooms that is on the "bump out" on deck 11 or 12 (and even then I'm not so sure!) But you will certainly be able to see water from a verandah. And on the Dream/Fantasy, you can even see water when sitting down on an aft Cat 6 verandah, since they don't have the full metal walls that the Magic/Wonder do.

Man! A girl takes a flight home and all heck breaks loose! I think you all got everything sorted out, but just in case...

As luck would have it, we booked 5164 just this week for May. I had no idea about the extended verandah thing, but it looks like we will have it, correct? In the video, it shows a "half" white wall "divider" on the verandah. Does anyone know what this is? I am hoping it is not the divider between two verandahs, as it does not extend to the edge.

Yes, you have an extended verandah, and Yes, I think that white thing is the divider, and does not go all the way to the edge. Great if you have the two connecting rooms, perhaps not so great if you don't!

From what I have read is you will not have the extended verandah in that room. It is the same as the one discussed above that the video looks directly down on but on the other side of the ship. I probably would switch cabins. The extended cabins are (please someone correct me if I am wrong): 5150-5162, 5050-5662. 5164 & 5664

I think all of the 5E rooms should have the extended verandahs, except for the two in the first post of this thread - 5024 and 5524.

I don't recall but can the rooms over 5024 and 5524 like 7022 look directly to the water? Look at the video again. I'm on a plane so can't look.

Not really - they are looking down on a white platform.

Thank you! I took another look when I got home. Bummer.

So, is the verandah on 5026 shared? It looks like there is a partition there :confused3

5026 and 5028 are connecting rooms and it looks like the verandah extension doesn't fully separate them. This is consistent with the video on the Passporter site, which makes me think they may not be fully separating the verandahs.

Thank you so much for your pictures! From the first one (inside one) it looks like this room only sleeps 3, since I don't see a pull down bed from the ceiling. Is that the case? Anything unusual of the sofa bed (did you happen to look)?

Interesting - so that room's verandah has an area that curves around to a regular verandah? Interesting.

The curve is the edge of the veranda for 5026. What you see on the other side of the white divider is the verandah for the connecting room 5028.

A) those are not boring photos to me. Honestly I'm totally not trying to be a complainer or anything- just being honest.. but all our verandah rooms for some reason I was just FASCINATED with looking down and watching the swishing water where the ship cut thru the water. I have no idea why. and I even took pictures because sometimes the frothy water was soooo blue and purty. LOL

B) I need to go look at the plans again and see what I have. I mean exactly where my room is located.... find it again. We have 5190/5192 booked for Dream-we have 5050 booked for Fantasy the following year but I'm sure hoping they have the same verandahs as Dream does!

Honestly I really wouldn't mind the "obstructed view" verandahs.. thinking it might be like navigator's verandahs but I'm so glad we switched to 5050 because having a much smaller verandah AND not being able to see down like the rooms right next to me AND having them extend out so far they can look back into my obstructed view verandah- would not be fun at all. They are totally going to reclassify those rooms, betcha. LOL They are just waiting to see if people complain, and people will. I bet.

I did not see a pull down bed but I really didn't look for it. Same for the sofa bed. This picture might help.

Those are not at all boring pics!!! This is also something that I just love to do!!! I am surprised about her design....DCL knows that "if they build her, they will come." I guess we will stick to Cat 6's; and I too wish they had Cat 7 Nav verandah's on the Dream/Fantasy. Any higher and you look down onto a verandah (not that I am complaining about seeing people, I would just rather see water like in the pics above!!!), and the 5E rooms have everyone else looking at you....

On another note, how can DCL not reclassify those first two 5E rooms??? They should not charge the same for those at all.

Ok HallsofVA, get uPgraded to the Roy Suite or some other concierge and report back!!! :)

I love those blue water shots.

HallsofVA sorry I started the uproar of sorts yesterday. I was thinking that video was on the back of the ship but I was kindly corrected. I'll try to be more careful in the future :)

I am so excited to go on my cruise in 2012 that I am spending a lot of time here to kinda help deal with the waiting pains.

I too love looking down at the water from the verandah...it's so hypnotizing and relaxing!!!

I wonder if there will be any type of removable divider for those balconies that are only partially divided on connecting staterooms? I can see where having access to both would be awesome if you booked both rooms, but it seems like DCL would have some kind of plan for a removable dividing piece of some kind when the rooms are booked by different traveling parties...

wow! I'm loving all this information. We have 5546 booked...do you think that is an extended verandah? and a full verandah?. We tried to get 5656 aft. Which room do you think will be better?? Thanks

That is an extended verandah congratulations :)

Halls posted this photo in the special rooms thread:

If you look at the big life boat on the left your room is the 4th sliding door over from that boat. (The first room to the right of the boat is a handicapped accessible room).

I can't comment on what one would be better.

We're in 5546 on the Fantasy in 2012. When are you sailing? I am loving all these pictures! :rotfl:

I'd stay with 5546. Both rooms you're looking at are non-connecting rooms, but 5656 is located above the restrooms of the nightclub district, which may mean there is noise that comes up into your room late in the evening. 5546 is located above the restrooms or grey space before the WDT balcony, and even if you possibly get noise from the theatre (no noise reported on the christening cruise, which was good), the shows are at scheduled times and should be easier to work around or avoid being bothered than in the nightclub topping room.

This video on the Passporter site shows the verandah for room 7022, an obstructed 5C verandah. They take some video looking down on the extended parts of the 5E verandahs below. I know there were lots of folks looking for this shot, so thought it would be good to point out.

The extended verandah you see is actually room 5026, which is down and one room over. Directly down from 7022 is room 5024, and you can clearly see (37 second mark) that it does not have the extended verandah, as discussed in the Special Rooms thread. The equivalent rooms on the right side of the ship are 7520, 5524 and 5526.

I am booked in a Cat 5E next year. Has anyone confirmed that it really is an extended balcony? Yes, it sticks out but is it truly larger than the rest? Maybe the hallway of deck 5 sticks out, as well, then so would the cabins and verandah doors too. Is the square footage actually larger? I'd love to see a video of a 5E verandah for comparison.

Oh yes, it is extended, unless you're in room 5024 or 5524, then you're non-extended and obstructed! The video in post 1 of this thread shows how much the extensions stick out from the rest of the rooms. This picture posted earlier in this thread also gives you a good idea from deck 5 of how far the verandah is extended outward. If you look up, you can see how much more recessed the rest of the verandahs are from the extended part of the 5E rooms.

After reading some of this thread I am worried about our view. Should I be? Can anybody tell me anything about this room (7034 on the Magic)? This will be our first cruise and we are going to the Eastern Caribbean on the Magic. Can't wait!
TIA,
Jonna :goodvibes

Now I'm getting a little confused. We are booked in room 6656 on the Dream in March. Can anyone tell me what type of view we are going to have from our verandah? What I mean is...will we be able to look straight down at the water or are we going to see someone else's verandah? TIA

This thread has been talking mostly about the Dream, so apologies if that has created any confusion for you on the Magic staterooms! There are some stateroom reports for room 7034 if you click on the "Staterooms" link at the top of the page in the blue bar that goes across the top of the page. I can't think of any significant problems to that room and it's nice and convenient to the midship elevators. Can't think of why it would be obstructed in any way.

Looking straight down, you will be seeing the verandahs for room 5656 and it's neighbors directly below you. There are almost no rooms on the Dream/Fantasy where you can look directly down to the water, except for perhaps the 5E rooms with the extended verandahs and some of the concierge rooms. But you should still be able to see water beyond those verandahs, just not where it meets the ship.

thanks for replying !! That kinda stinks. Who really wants to be on their verandah and see the people in the stateroom right below you?! What about the stateroom above us? Will they be able to see directly onto our verandah like we will see 5656? Talk about no verandah privacy...jeez!
