VideoNow Player, any info?

I just saw an advertisement for the VideoNow player. It sort of looks like a cross between a CD player and portable DVD player. Of course my kids started bouncing up and down when they saw it and informed me that it would be a great gift for Christmas. I was wondering if anyone has bought it yet and what you think of it. I believe the commercial said it only played black & white mini-shows, so I'm guessing you have to buy those seperately. And what about just playing CD's, do they work in the VideoNow?

From what I have seen, it only plays the Video now discs. These are small discs, mostly with Nickelodeon cartoons on them, but they have an American Idol one and a Hilary Duff one. They do not play any other discs, and it only plays in black and white. HTH.

They only play black and white, and if you don't get the little light attachment, the picture is kind of hard to see.

Each disk has 3 full-length cartoons on it, so it would run approx. 60 minutes.

My friend's daughter just got one for her birthday, and she seems to like it.

I just posted on the "what to get an 11 y.o. for xmas" post that I just got 2 of these. It's all the kids want for Christmas. I think it's kind of junky - the screen is tiny and black and white. I'm sure the novelty will wear off quickly. Luckily I found them on sale at Toys R Us for $39.99, so it's not too bad (they're at Ltd. 2 for $60 I believe).

Thanks for the replies everyone. I saw them on the Walmart site for $49.99 and the discs were $14.97 each. I'm thinking that it will only be a matter of time before another manufacturer comes out with a color model and one that perhaps will play CD's also. I can imagine it will be a very popular item this year for Christmas, but I think I'm going to wait.
