Video site hosting?

I did a search, and it seems like the question of what site people use to host videos (when you want to move way from youtube or google) comes up about once a year or so. So here it is again...

I know Smugmug has video for the power and pro users. Does anyone use Smugmug for video hosting?

Thanks

I use Smugmug (pro account) for video hosting. It works well. Vimeo seems to be the most popular for people on the video sites I frequent. Something called Animoto is popular as well, but I'm not sure if you can host normal videos on it.

I use my MobileMe account and make web galleries for each of my movies.

+1 for mark

Smugmug is AWESOME for video hosting, though they only offer it on their pro accounts, which can run $150 a year prior to any discounts.

Animoto is great for creating slideshows of your images, they also have a feature now where you can add in short video clips into the slideshow. I don't believe that they offer regular video hosting.

So if your looking for something that is inexpensive, take a look at Vimeo, if money is no object go SmugMug, they are awesome.

Thanks for the comments. Smugmug does offer SD video on the middle tier account, which is only $60 vs. the Pro $150. The Pro offers HD, but I don't have an HD camcorder yet.

I've looked at Smugmug over time - as I'd prefer to have photo and video at one site instead of splitting them over 2 sites (I've been on Imageevent for photos for years - only $25/year, but has a 3,000 image limit). I'll probably do Smugmug - $60 isn't that much.

I've already loaded a couple of test videos on Smugmug - it seems to work pretty well. I uploaded two different versions of the same video - one in H264 and I think the other I think was MPG or DVD setting??? (both files converted in Premiere Elements). The H264 file ended up a relatively small file to upload and looks better than the large mpg file I uploaded. I guess starting in the final SM format paid off.

I upgraded my Smugmug account to a pro account specifically so that I could host HD video there. I cover the extra cost by selling photos. I do a few studio shoots in my garage for the neighbors each year and get some sales off of those. I also sell a bunch of Disney pictures to people on the scrapbooker forum. I only get 8 cents per shot, so I'm not making a killing, but it works out to be enough to pay for my site each year. I'm a softy, though. In addition to making the pictures available for sale, I also allow people to do full res downloads for free.

FWIW, YouTube hosts full HD (1920x1080) videos now, they call it HQ37 format. (The recent official Muppet videos have all been 1920x1080.) I don't know if there is an additional charge though as I've never uploaded a video. 1280x720 is getting to be pretty common there too.
