Video game trade-in at Amazon

Has anyone ever done a video game (or film, or textbook) trade-in with Amazon? We have some Wii games that DD doesn't play anymore and I received an email saying that for one of them the trade in is $16.75. I'd be pretty happy with that, but I'm just not sure how it works! I have lots of DVDs and texbooks, so this is an intriguing idea! Thanks in advance!!!!

I've been doing the Amazon trade-in with books and video game ever since I was laid off from my job over the summer. I've done it at least 4 or 5 times and have always gotten the gift card amount they promised. You just have to print out their postage label and attach it to the package and either take it to the post office or UPS or else if the package is small enough, you can drop it in the mailbox.

I've done it a few times too. It seems like every time I do it, there's a "problem" with at least one or two of the titles. Sometimes they're listed as "not yet received" when everything else is listed as received.... it was all in the same box and I checked it personally, so I know they were all there. Another time one was returned as "incomplete"...it had all the documentation and packaging... not sure what else they wanted.

They've been pretty good about crediting for things that they listed as not received when I called to complain, but it's still a hassle to spend the time to call about it.

I'm wondering if the problem is that I do too many at one time. We're clearing out a large stash and have quite a few per box.

Overall, I think it's worth it and I'll probably do it again... but probably limit it to about 5 items per box so they don't get "confused" as to what is and isn't in the box.

Also, I've never had the USPS option when doing video games... I believe it's because they use media rate for books with USPS and video games don't technically count, so they have to go UPS. It doesn't really matter either way though since they pay postage, but just a heads up.

We did it a few weeks ago and it was painless. I selected the games we no longer wanted (there's a trade-in button on the right hand of the screen when you pull up the game. At the end, I confirmed my list was correct, they had me print out some paperwork to put in the box with the games and a pre-paid shipping label. It didn't go to Amazon directly, but they received my box on Friday and the amount was credited to my account Monday. I would definitely do it again.

I've used it a few times for textbooks, including tonight! It's always been painless for me, but I've never had more than 3 or 4 books at a time.

It's very simple. Print the label, box up the books, and drop them off at the UPS store. The buyback amounts are much higher than my bookstore offers for the same titles.

I've done it with some video games. For the most part, it's painless.

Go for it once, you'll figure it out yourself.

We were going to do it, but decided to check gamestop first. Game stop gave us $50 more than amazon was going to give us, and did not even take 3 of the games. We did not have to wait for the shipping or amount to credit. We go it all on the spot. My son came home with an xbox 360 that day. kinect and all. we only spent $15.
