DH and I are thinking of going to V&As for our anniversary while we are on vacation this August, but I was looking at the menu and noticed there is a lot f seafood on it. I cannot stand seafood and DH is allergic to crab. Is it even worth it for us to go? I don't want to spend all that money and be disappointed.

Thanks!

DH and I went on our honeymoom and were are not fans of seafood. When we booked our reservations they asked if either of us were allergic to shellfish. DH told them we would prefer no shellfish. We did end up having one fish choice. We both tried the Salmon and we just are not fans. Later that night near the end we over heard a couple near us that requested no seafood at all. We still had about 7 courses (can't remember the exact amount). It was very much worth it.

I was at the CT with two friends a couple of years ago. One ate no shellfish and the other ate no fish. They had no problem as the Chef made separate items for them; they even showed up on the individualized menus.

Disney and most especially V&A work with allergy/preferences better than anywhere else I've been. You will most likely be treated to something at least equal but probably more scrumptious than the menu item. This is dining where pride is still taken at presenting the best and freshest possible meal.

Call ahead to let them know your allergies and preferences.

I am also allergic to crab (although I can eat other shellfish), my daughter simply doesn't like seafood, and my husband wanted no game meats. I had a menu with no crab on it, my daughter's "fish" course had no seafood - they put in substitutions that she loved, and my husband had no game. Note that there is also a full vegetarian menu available from which you can order. My husband swapped out a course for a vegetarian one, and it was delicious!

You can ask them to make a note of your preferences when you make your reservation. They will generally call a week or two before your reservation to ensure that they know your preferences, or you can call them and they'll note everything.

It is so worth it!

Ditto to what previous posts have said. When you make your reservations, tell them you are allergic to seafood and they will take care of you. You should get a phone call the week before your reservation to confirm and you can remind them again at that time. The 3rd or 4th course between the hot appetizer and the soup/souffle courses is usually the seafood course so I would expect them to substitute that course. You chose between several options for each course so don't select the seafood. DW and I ate at V&A for the first time the week after Thanksgiving 2010 (TR link below-our menu is Pg3, post #41) and absolutely loved it. Also, if a full glass of wine with EVERY course is a bit much, you and your spouse can split a wine pairing and get a short glass (half glass) of the appropriate wine with each course. AAA just came out with their latest 5 diamond restaurant listings and V&A is on the list for the 11th year in a row. It is one of only two available 5 diamond restaurants in Florida. There are only 43 of them in the entire U.S. Bon appetit!
