Heard from a cast member today that the delay in reopening Victoria & Alberts is due to the current head Chef Scott Hunnel retiring.

Interviews for a replacement are taking place. An announcement expected soon.

New date for reopening could be June.

Not enjoyable news.

He came by our table a time or two and was a delight to speak with. So knowledgeable and appreciative of our fondness for V&A's.

He'll be missed by many, I expect.

Absolutely. I think he came our table every time we have dined there.
Big shoes to fill for who ever takes his position.

We have eaten there twice. The first was for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were served by a married couple and they were a delight. dinner was 7 or 9 dishes paired with wine and when we were finished happily stuffed ,but even tho we were there for over 3 hours it felt like we could've stayed another 3 or 4.
We never met Chef Hunnel .

Chef Scott Hunnel is over at The Crown of Cornelia (sp) at Galatic Starcruiser Hotel is he not?

Would that have been a late middle-aged couple named Jack and Sherry by any chance?

If so, I heartily agree. They served us when we did Chef's Table about 7 years ago and were not only wonderfully efficient but so informative and congenial.

I don't remember their names. Middle aged is about right and it was about 5 years ago. They were from Ohio.

Rumor has it that Bob Chapek is interviewing this guy in order to reduce costs while doubling the charge for a meal at V&A's.

Wait, I thought he was looking into seeing if there were Rats that could make the food to increase profits? Chapek would do anything to increase profits, including serving water and air, but only if you would be willing to get up at 4am on the day after to see if you had signed up for the $$$ he took.

The information of it reopening, so far, sounds encouraging. Like what I'm hearing so far. Hope it lives up to its promise.

It had to be Jack and Sherry. They were the best!! I hope they return.
We had the immense luck to be served at Steakhouse 71 by Jack in November.

Naturally with some hesitancy given pandemic fears, we asked about Sherry. He said she was fine, working tables across the room, in fact. Also, that another V&A's server was there, too.

He mentioned they'd been told they'd be called back in February for a projected March reopening which clearly didn't happen.

Like you, we hope most sincerely that they both return. Such congenial and impeccable servers.
