Via Napoli (Italy) and Hacienda de San Angel (Mexico) - FAQ

That menu on All Ears is not the menu that I saw on the Taqueria in May. The one in May included nachos and did not have the chipotle chicken. Didn't eat there, just saw it in passing on the way in to La Cava, but there were definitely nachos and no chipotle.
I remember Nachos in December too, but the ones at the CS were better.

Hi! Really sorry but I'm at work so don't have time to read the whole thread! Is there any word of whether the online ADR system will be updated to allow online bookings on the 6th, or will I need to call?

Thanks!
This is wholly unofficial and guessing, but more than likely it'll be purely by phone for awhile.

Will they be taking reservations through the internet or will we need to call the dining reservation line??

Also updated the front with more blog questions and answers. I should probably have the mods splice a couple posts up there for me so I can break it up a bit more. Guess I wasn't thinking much when I first wrote it up heh.

Not cheap by a long run. I would have thought this would have been a less expensive version of the Tutto Italia restuarant but NO. LOL!

Pizza's are $36.00! They do have a soft opening August 5.

Menu can be found at Deb's AllEars.

A couple things to keep in mind though when looking at the prices. For starters, the final Via Napoli menu has not been confirmed yet (or maybe it was very recently, but after the AllEars post). It's a good source for what we know, but it's not final yet.

Second, a $36 pizza does sound costly, but when you factor in the higher quality ingredients (vs say Dominos or Pizza Hut) plus the fact it's in a Tourist destination, plus the fact it should serve 4-6 people, it's not really that bad. Using 4 people, 3 slices each, that's $9 per person. Pretty comparable to a typical CS meal in pricing and far less than a typical TS meal. Even using 3 people ($12 ea), it's still relatively inexpensive.

I do get the sticker shock when seeing a pizza cost over $30, but for the amount it feeds, the (hopeful!) quality of the pie and the location and dining style you get for that price, it's really not that bad.

Do we dare try to walk in Via Napoli on August 5th?

Does anyone have any experience on restaurant soft opening, walk in only days?

Am so tempted to try since we'll be in WDW that week. Do you think the Epcot crowds will be impacted by the opening?

Just looking for general opinions! I know no one has THE answer to my questions! Just curious to what everyone thinks!

TIA!

Honestly, it's probably not going to have that big of an effect. I would venture to guess that other than people like us on these boards, new restaurants go relatively unnoticed. I'd say go for it, and show up at opening to see about getting in. (Maybe not on the 5th, but sometime during the week). Also, have a backup plan just in case.

I did the soft opening for the Akershus Princess Meal in Norway when it was converted. They recruited folks internally and assigned everyone dining times to show up. In exchange for feedback we got a free meal - though I'm not trying to suggest that will be the case at all with a more public/advertised soft opening.

Come to think of it, that was while they were prepping Soarin' to open a well, and I had done a test-group of the revamped Behind the Seeds tour I had been randomly asked to do from inside the park - no prearrangement, I just got asked as I was wandering around killing time until my assigned meal. Got to talk with the manager working there and we both had the same assigned meal time at Akershush and the tour ran late so we were going to be really late and she offered to drive me from backstage The Land (managers park behind it there) over to Norway. Don't freak out, I was an off-site CM w/ ID at the time.

Anywho - It was crowded and a little chaotic, but enjoyable since I went in expecting that. They made a few changes after the soft opening to the menu and how they seat people and flow of the restaurant. So expect there to be those sorts of kinks. Also, service might be really slow. I did Wine Country Trattoria's (DCA) reopening day with the very first seating for World of Color dining packages and while good the service was painfully slow (we just sipped drinks and talk - again we expected it) and one funny bit was that we ordered steak but the restaurant didn't have steak knives despite the CM's pulled from other locations trying to offer them.

Stuff happen. Just go in thinking service will be slow as they learn to handle crowds and work out a good pace. Also, know that anything you say will be noted. I arrived at Wine Country that first day and immediately asked to be seated upstairs due to the noise downstairs from the High School Musical show and the parade that was preparing to start soon. No problem they said, and I thought nothing of it, but now they have a policy of sending World of Color packages to the second floor to make service easier - keeping the prix fixe apart from the standard menu customers.

Updated with new soft-opening date for Via Napoli. It will now open on Monday Aug 2, changed from Thursday Aug 5. Reservation dates and such remain the same.

Looking forward to Pictures of the inside decor for Via Napoli.
The building looks pretty big from the drawings.
Wondering how the size compares to Tutto? is it bigger/smaller?
If someone goes for the soft opening please post pictures.
Thanks

I've really learned recently that I'm an obsessive planner! I REALLY wish I could book both the new Italian and Mexican restaurants for October, so that I could finalize our ADR's and be done with it! ;) At least we can book the pizzeria pretty soon! Thanks for the info!

Just bumping this up a bit and asking for experiences and pictures from those who have been there (Note, I know I'm asking this the day after the initial soft-opening :P, this is open ended).

Also, if you guys hear any further information, especially regarding DDP utilization and any Hacienda information, please feel free to post it.

Work and other "stuff" has been keeping be pretty busy as of late and I have not had the time to keep up with this as well as I'd like.
