Via Napoli (Italy) and Hacienda de San Angel (Mexico) - FAQ

I was offered 5:45 and 7 on both days I was looking when I tried 6:00. Maybe they are just allowing more time at the beginning until they see how long service is going to take. They can probably always open up slots as things start falling into place. Worked for me though...can't wait!

I too was offered 5:45 and 7:00pm for Sun 9/26. Fortunately, the 7pm fit perfectly as we should be hungry from my Le Cellier lunch by then. I was a thinking it was a little tight with my 6:05 Tutto reservation I previously held.

We are doing lunch at LeCellier on our Via Napoli day too. I was wondering the same thing bc our lunch is at 11:55 and dinner at 5:45. The 7p is still open but I was afraid that wouldn't give us enough time to go find a good spot for Illuminations.

For anyone who has eaten there recently, about how long is your meal/service taking?

I had the same exact concern... we have a 12:10 lunch at Teppan Edo on our Via Napoli day. I was worried that we wouldn't be hungry enough at 5:45 and that we wouldn't make it out in time for Illuminations if we took the 7pm. :confused3 I'm going with the 7pm and hoping for the best. I can't imagine we wouldn't be done by 8:30 & it's just two of us so hopefully we'll still be able to find a good spot for Illuminations.

Ditto. Almost all of it identically, except 4 days prior. LOL

There are actually 4 restaurants in Epcot's Mexico.

You are booked at the San Angel Inn restaurant. It's the one inside the pavilion, has existed since the park opened, and is on the waterfront of the boatride.

There is also a tequila bar that opened recently, La Cava del Tequila. It replaced a bit of retail inside the main pavilion. It has tons of types of tequila and serves light appetizers.

Then there is the Hacienda de San Angel and the Cantina de San Angel. These two locations are set to open soon on the waterfront of the main park promenade. Hacienda will be table service just for dinner. The Cantina used to exist all by itself in the same location, but was closed when they rennovated extensively and built-on to allow for both to exist. It will reopen and likely serve the same tacos, nachos, etc.. it always had before.

So, 4 locations, 3 are named "San Angel" in some format.

thank you for your excellent clarification! I was confused too with all of the similar names!:rotfl:

Does anoyne think Via Napoli will be part of the Candlelight Dinner Package?

Just had dinner at Via Napoli on Thursday. Walked in at 5pm and was seated right away. Very nice dinner. The two of us split the pollo chopped salad a pizza. Both dishes large enough to split. Service was quick, atmosphere was bright and casual. I will definitely return. :thumbsup2

We have Via Napoli booked in December for lunch.

Please forgive me if I sound petty but I am trying to figure out how to best spend our Table credits, on previous trips, we have ended up at the end of vacation (long since) depleted of TS credits with a panicked feeling to use all of the remaining CS credits, snack credits are easy to use!! :cake:

MY QUESTION IS: Do you think they will change it or can we share one credit with a large pizza? Do they automatically take off 4 credits if 4 people are eating? Seems like this should be simple... Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question but I am unable to decide!!

Would you recommend using this meal as an OOP??

I got a 6:30pm ADR now I feel like im the weird kid as you guys all got offered 5:45 and 7pm.
I was reading on a thread today and someone posted that they did an Epcot Segueway tour and the CM said they loved Via Napoli and that they will be adding a take out window later. I think it was on inkcognito's review posted by goofytink :)

I can't wait to try Via Napoli the Aqua Fresha sounds wonderful and the ricotta fritters

I highly doubt they'd ever let 1 credit buy a 20". It's just not sensible to charge that little for a meal that serves 2-3 people by design. As far as "automatically", I would think only if you order the 1/2m and have a valid party make-up (at least 4 adults).

I would also venture to guess that you cannot split a single pizza amongst OOP and DDP (so you can't pay 2 credits for a 1/2m and pay the other half OOP).

It appears (keep in mind I haven't gone there yet) to be the exact same mechanic as the multi-serving apps and desserts.

Being the "weird kid" isn't always a bad thing ;). As far as the take out window, it's plausible, but I wouldn't hold my breath for awhile. This isn't really the type of pizza that lends itself to carry out or by-the-slice ordering. Figuring out how DDP would interact with that would make it interesting as well.

I was actually curious as to how the DDP would work too for those that have been there already (or that know more than me!). There are 4 of us going but I was thinking that one large and one individual would be plenty for us but I didn't know if they would take off 4 credits anyways. My mom and I always split if we can so we don't waste food. Do you think they would let us order that way and then just all split the 3 desserts?

Does anyone else think the "faces" for the ovens look slightly "Muppet"-ish?

I think the faces look like Arnie and Claude from the (late) Adventurers Club.

The DDP breakdown, as reported by one poster is: Individual pizza 1 credit (includes beverage and dessert). Large pizza 2 credits (includes 2 beverages and 2 desserts). 1/2 meter pizza, 4 credits (includes 4 beverages and 4 desserts). These are adult credits, not child credits, and will be the charge regardless of how many people actually eat the pizza but it's likely the proper number of adults must be present. No, you can't get a large pizza for 1 DDP credit.

I don't think I would count on that takeout window either.

Why?

I understand that someone "in the restaurant business" is cited in the FAQ as saying that wood-fired doesn't hold up well for take out, but my preferred local pizza place would beg to differ. I agree that by the slice may not be the best idea, unless they limit by the slice to lunch/early dinner only and only offer two or three varieties, but unless they want to drive up demand and ensure server tip maximization, there is no reason to not window.

I don't know. Having had a pepperoni pizza there last Thursday, the pizza they serve would not be very good as a carry out. It tastes great, but is very thin and limp and would be difficult to hold in your hand and walk and eat. I prefer sitting down with a plate and eating that type of pizza in a restaurant. IMHO. :upsidedow

I don't think they want to charge CS credits for the pizza. And there will be major complaints about using TS credits for carryout. It's one of the reasons that TS restaurants that used to allow takeout (like Olivia's at OKW) no longer do.

So I finally broke down and made a lunch ADR for Sept 11th online.

I normally prefer to save my TS for dinner but its our first day checking into the Poly and wanted to relax and swim that evening and enjoy the resort so I had originally booked Kona for dinner but really wasnt happy with that ( Im crazy I dont care for anything at Kona but dessert and have Ohana later that week) so now we can have lunch in Epcot and come back around 2 and swim and enjoy the resort and get a bite to eat in our CL if we get hungry or use a CS in Capt COoks so I feel like I made the right decision..

So now my decision will be do I use 1 TS per person and get individual pizzas, drinks and deserts or use 2 TS and get one large pizza , drinks and desserts.. I guess that depend if DH and I can agree on a pizza or not..lol

Still hoping new CS Mexican will open while we are there later that week really wanted it for lunch..
