Via Napoli (Italy) and Hacienda de San Angel (Mexico) - FAQ

Lots of great info Cafeen! I will be in WDW for free dining in less than a month and I think I might give Via Napoli a try on the DDP! In the meantime, I will make note to also snag a reservation for my December trip when they open up.

ETA: You said that the restaurant will be "walk-ups" only. Does anyone know if it will be available in the system that CMs can access at Guest Services inside Epcot? I would like to make my reservation in the morning on the way into the park instead of hoofing back to the restaurant and waiting for a table.

It's my understanding from reading the blog post that no reservations will be available until the dining date of Sept 10. I would venture to guess this includes guest services, but i simply don't know.

It won't hurt to ask once you get there, if they're not available, then typical walk-up advice would probably apply (show up at the start of a meal, be prepared to wait a bit, give Cafeen $20, etc).

Is the QS in MExico still open or is it closed in preparation for the transition? I hope it will be open in late August!

It's currently closed and will likely reopen when the new TS opens.

For now, there is a small kiosk type thing that serves a limited menu.

Does anyone know what the limited menu consists of? Do you think (I know that we don't know until they announce it) that Hacienda de San Angel will have a soft opening like Via Napoli at the end of the August until the opening late Sept? We liked the CS in Mexico last year and was hoping to get that or the actual restaurant when we go in Sept but our trip is the 11th-21st so I am hoping for a soft opening!

It's disappointing that Via NApoli won't have a take-out window. It would be great to be able to walk around World Showcase, munching on a slice of authentic Italian pizza for lunch or a snack!

You're making an assumption -- that the pizza will be authentic and Italian!

I agree! My DH would be there all the time. He hangs around the pizza window at the BW!

I'd love to see a quick service for pizza. Great idea!

Have you had the kid's meal pizza at Tutto Italia? It's wonderful. I'm assuming this would be similar, but better. We'll see!;)

I'm going to try for a walk up dinner over Labor Day weekend. :wizard:

I have to admit, I haven't tried it. But I have yet to have a good piece of pizza on Disney property, and good pizza in Florida in general is quite rare and possibly nonexistent.

But let's not go there -- there have been a billion threads on pizza already, and they never end well. ;)

Not off the top of my head. There was a thread around here somewhere about it though.

As far as opening, I think it would be a good bet that there will be a soft opening. No idea of the times or anything, but it seems to be pretty common with new restaurants these days (Sanaa, Kouzinna, and now Via Napoli from just my short time on these boards). Of course, that 9/23 date on stitchkingdom and the "It'll be open for F&W comment" may mark the start of the soft opening rather than current planned "real" opening.

I admit that we've never had authentic Italian pizza so I'm not even sure if we'd like it. How is it different? We love good "un-authentic" pizza and that is IMO nonexistent in WDW.

Via Napoli is supposed to be selling authentic Neapolitan pizza.
From a website called inmamaskitchen.com

The authentic way to make a Neapolitan pizza is in a special brick oven. The pizza produced in a brick oven is crisp, not oily and soggy. Neapolitans don't overload pizza with oil, and they don't use mozzarella when it is very liquid

This means thin, crispy crusts and non-runny cheese. I would imagine they won't sell thick crust pan pizza (Sicilian style) here.

Hi! Really sorry but I'm at work so don't have time to read the whole thread! Is there any word of whether the online ADR system will be updated to allow online bookings on the 6th, or will I need to call?

Thanks!

The 'suits' (owners & Disney ups) are rumored to have an opening party at La Hacienda on September 16, which is the Bicentennial Celebration of Mexico's Independence. It should open for the public soon after, maybe that weekend for soft openings? Rumor that's all it is .... but the date makes sense for a big fiesta!

La Hacienda is having a Job Fair on July 28.

That menu on All Ears is not the menu that I saw on the Taqueria in May. The one in May included nachos and did not have the chipotle chicken. Didn't eat there, just saw it in passing on the way in to La Cava, but there were definitely nachos and no chipotle.
