DVCNews has an article about the Villas at Grand Floridian layout and floor plans. Click here to read article.

I wonder if those 4BR grand villas will really have a higher sleeping capacity.

It's disappointing to see that 1 BR only have 1 bathroom while a family suite at ASMu has 2 :confused3

Yes, I thought that was pretty lame too... we are a 1 bedroom family and I always thought maybe we might want to stay there. But for the points they are gonna charge I would want 2 bathrooms like we get in a VGC 1 bedroom.

It really does not tempt me to wanna book there unless I had a gazillion points for the GV!

Since Aulani was built with only one bathroom in their 1 BRs, I'm not surprised that VGF also only has 1 bathroom. It is a split bathroom, so the the tub and sink is separate from the 2nd sink and shower, so two can easily get ready at the same time.

I thought it was more interesting that there are six 4BR grand villas and each of those bedrooms have a bathroom. And the speculation that GVs would be on the the end cap facing the lagoon and MK is correct. Another nice touch is that GVs are a 1 story. And the GVs have two balconies the length of two bedrooms on each side of the living room. The living room is deeper because the window extends out to include the depth of the balcony. VGF GV living room has access to the balconies via two doors on each side of of the window. Similar to a BLT 1 or 2 BR except you can access both balconies from the LR.

I'm still suprised, I figured DVC realized they were in competition at WDW with family suites...but then again, the prototypical GF guest would never consider a value family suite. DVC is probably counting on getting more families of 4 buying 2 BR points.
And you are correct, at least VGF has the dual vanity layout that exists in every DVC, except Jambo.

It's interesting that they had Jambo GV space, but went with 4BR instead of the game room.. Or perhaps a music room with a baby grand.

In looking at the layout of the grand villa, I think the Master is the top bedroom and the bottom two bedrooms are similar sized to the extra two bedrooms in other GV. The intriguing room is the one next to the master without a dedicated bathroom. I think this room will have two bunkbeds to get the four sleeping units.

With that, I think these GV will sleep 17-19 depending on how many can sleep in the living room. At least 3 and possibly up to 5.

So, am I reading it right that there are going to be studios, 1 brs, 2 brs and 4 brs, but no 3 brs?
Here's an article from the same source re: potential point requirements

It looks very much like VGC's point requirements to my untrained eye. I sort of thought they might make VGF all club, as it is such a popular option at AKV and GF already offers an all club building away from the main lobby in the Sugarloaf Cay building.
Or could the not yet disclosed plans for floors 5 and 6 be slotted for club?

I had the same thought about the comparison to VGC. Since we own both there and at OKW we really have to adjust our points needed depending on which we are visiting!

But with VGC at least there aren't different views. All studios are the same each season, for example. I'd have to thing VGF will have more than one view, like BLT, and some rooms will be a lot more and some a lot less than any averages we might be seeing.

On the plans shown for the dedicated two bedroom, where is the balcony?

Looks like it was not included in the copy and paste. I imagine it looks like the one from the lockoff but without the privacy wall between the studio balcony and the 1BR balcony.

The dedicated two-bedroom villa shown in the DVCNews article is villa #1106, which is on the first floor. The first floor villas at VGF have patios instead of balconies.

Am I the only one thinking that, given the proximity of the wedding pavilion, these 4BR Grand Villas would be attractive to wedding parties before the nuptials, prior to the reception to change/freshen up, etc. and after the reception as a hospitality suite?!

Another nice thing about these plans is that the balconies run the length of the rooms like at AKV and are not the type with a small footprint like at VWL.

Oh, thanks so much. :thumbsup2 I did finally find the laundry room. I have never been good at reading floor plans.

Nice to see a 4 bdr option in the GV but the floor plans for the 1-2 bdrs do not appeal to me at all. It looks like you have to cross the entire villa to get to the bedroom door. Imagine trying to do that in the dark/middle of the night and trying not to trip on the pull out sofa??? Am I reading these plans right?
Bathroom set up is not good for my family either. Need that extra bathroom in a 1 bdr in the summer months for showing! LoL
Guess I was hoping for something different...

I agree it's a bit odd having the main door to the master bedroom at the balcony end of the room. If you came home late at night and had guests asleep on the pullout sofa, you could walk through the bathroom to get to the master bedroom, bypassing the kitchen and living area completely.

Oh but middle door in that bathroom is such a PAIN!! I'm laughing as I post this because that darn middle door always gets locked by someone when I need to be on the other side of it! Kind of running joke in my family! LOL

If they build it like they built BLT, there won't be any locks on those bathroom doors and they will slide open when you least expect it.

a few of the two bedrooms at BCV have that configuration to access the 2nd bedroom and literally when the sofa bed is open, you can barely get past it to get to the door to the bedroom. I hated it.
