It has been a long time since I have posted here, I have been so discouraged these past 6 months. I have gained so much weight that I just can't even look at myself. In the past year I have gone on the Fat Flush diet, lost about 13 pounds but found it so hard to stick with it, went off and gain back all the weight and then some with in a couple of weeks. So I ended up rejoining WW's and struggled for three months to lose 10 pounds, went on vacation for 5 days and when I came back I had gained back all the weight! I was so disgusted I quit WW's, I just couldn't justifying spending all the money on meetings and keep gaining and losing the same few pounds. So next comes SBD, I lost 7 pounds the first two weeks and have come to a standstill for the past 4 weeks. I am getting so discouraged! I still get in workouts ar least 5 times a week but nothing I do seems to help. I am turning 50 in September and have found that in the last 10 years I have gained over 25 pounds. This weight gain has effected my self esteem, I don't want to visit any of my friends being that I have gotten so fat! Even though my husband assures me that I look fine I still feel self conscious around him. So what's a soon to be 50 year old girl to do? Any suggestions? Anyone else fining it hard to slim down? WW's was so sucessful for me 3 years ago but I ended up quiting going to meetings and you know the rest of the story...sorry for the whine, I need help!

Being really honest with yourself, how tightly do you stick to the diet guidelines and how vigorous are your workouts?
IF you have been very good about the diet guidelines and your workouts are at least 40 minutes of sweating then see a Dr. to check for thyroid function or Polycystic ovarian syndrome or other metabolic problems.
You might be losing the same water weight each time you start a diet but not losing fat and when the dieting stops the water jumps back on.
I am reading the weight watcher book "Weight Loss That Lasts: Breaking the top ten diet myths" If you pm your address i could mail it on to you.
THe fib i kept telling myself was that i could just exercise more and then i wouldn't have to change my eating habits. The book says to lose weight without changing eating habits you need to walk 10 miles a day, 70 miles a week.
Good luck,
a fellow stuggler

Does your program include rotating your exercise plans? That may help.

I just recently read the book Body for Life for Women. It's no big secret that as we age we need exercise because our metabolism slows down and we need to keep active. We also need to keep changing our routine so our bodies get challenged.

I hope you can find something that works for you. :goodvibes

You have taken a HUGE step in admitting that you can't do it on your own. It's really hard!! I have started and stopped WW 3 times. One good thing that you can do for yourself is start a WISH journal. Read some of them to get the idea of what they are all about. It took hundreds of dollars to WW and countless days of giving up to realize that I have everything I need within myself. Women are so much more powerful than we give ourselves credit for. My life totally changed for the better when I started a WISH journal. So much support and encouragement! This is something that you need to do for yourself. Prove to yourself that you are able to do it. You are soooo worth it!!

Don't worry hon, you've probably just hit a plateau. I'm alot like, i lose it, i gain it, i lose it, i gain it. Blah. I've gained all of the 25-30 pounds i lost months ago. Sad isn't it. Anyways back than what really helped was playing around with how many calories i ate. Some days for some reason i'd eat more and actually lose more than if i ate less. I guess it's something to do with, your body's metabolism begining to speed up or something. Try eating a little more.
