Very uncertain with change in plans

For the 5/1 sailing, the inside and ocean view cabins must have sold better at regular price than the verandah cabins. Since they only released VGT rates. I have seen this before on other cruises we previously booked.

The Fantasy just must be selling better than the other ships - DCL doesn’t seem to need to discount it as much!
I just noticed for the 5/1 sailing they are no longer offering guaranteed rates. That’s crazy and now I’m beginning to think they may not do anything for the 5/6 4 night

I agree, but I think that the chances are extremely low on a 4-night but maybe just a tad higher on the 5-night cruises? But I may have that completely backwards. I don't know. I will be keeping an eye on the early September sailings for sure.

But even if I do end up having to sail the Wish, I believe a 26% off discount is not the best they will offer. But with me picking my own stateroom currently, I would really need a 35% or more off to justify booking a VGT. I currently have 7540 booked on the Wish and I think that the location of it on the ship is ideal. Are the other two Wish class ships having the same amount of disgust this ship has garnered?
We were in the same situation last year with a 5 night on the Magic in September (this year it’s the fantasy). We almost switched to the 4 night wish which went discount. The 5 night Magic never went to discount. I think it had some guarantee rates but nothing impressive, nothing cheaper than what we already had booking early. In my experience the 5 nights are much more popular than the 3/4 nights.

I guess no one can predict what will happen, unfortunately.

I may be backwards on my thoughts then. But, it is a guessing game no doubt.

When they release the GTY rates, not the ones with restrictions, it means they are almost out of that type of cabin?

Yes. And you will receive that level of cabin or
greater. We have booked this a couple of times and always gotten the level of cabin we booked - never an upgrade.

Wow! You are right! The VGT rate was only available for about a week! We may have to book the 4/26 VGT rate to make a B2B with our 5/1 sailing.

I would not blame you at this point. Hard to believe April has discounted rates as I would think that is more of a school holiday than early May. Figure if nothing comes out by the 15th we might make alternate plans

We did a VGT on 4 night Wish for end April/early May last year - were surprised as well on the discount for those dates, as the weeks before and after were significantly higher.

I think it is just a dead time because its after spring break and before kids are out for summer.

Just checked and there is a VGT on the Destiny for a 5 night cruise - 4/25. For about the same price as the VGT for the 5 night in the Fantasy on 4/26.

Hard to believe there is already guarantee rates on the Destiny. It has only been sailing a few months.

I would have never imagined these discounts would be so needed on Disney's newer ships and I bet Disney didn't either. This Wish class design and ridiculous cost have made a lot of people cross Disney off thier list of companies they might consider cruising with again.

I think the dead are not so amazing because they really inflated the prices on the new ships. The base price on the new ships is higher than on the older ones.

I doubt you will get a 35% off for a VGT.... You might but Im not feeling good about it. What was interesting to me is the Treasure has the 20-25% off with Placeholder Aug-Feb but none in Sept. The Wish has them but the Dream and Fantasy only each have one Sept sailing with placeholder discount. Also keep in mind Sept- Oct is hurricane season so if flying in give yourself WAY more time than normal.
May not get such. But last year didn't they offer up to 40% off with some last minute rates? I bet those were very last minute rates that work well for those living closer to the port. Definitely need at least 6-8 weeks minimum for myself. I think. LoL.

They had a promo offer for or 40% off select sailings from Oct 25th -Dec 19th when booked between Sept 19-25th (and they did raise prices on several of those prior to the discount dropping). DCL also recently reported they are booked to over 80% for the rest of the fiscal year (ends at the end of Sept) And we will need to see what happens with oil prices rising... It is hard to predict.

Good point about the oil.
