Very impressed with the Minute Clinic at CVS!

Another fan for a different reason. My substitute teaching license requires a Mantoux (tuberculosis) test. My doctor would do it but it would count as an office visit with a $50 co-pay. I called Minute Clinic and their charge was only $20 - more than 70% less! The nurse practitioner was fast, professional and was able to email the results directly to the school district.

I love Minute Clinic. Our primary doctor is so busy, that you if you can get squeezed in that day, it's usually a 2 hour wait! ARGH. So, I've resorted to going to Minute Clinic for the minor things such as poison ivy, ear infections, sinus infections, etc. Those things that you know what it is and just need the meds. The longest I've ever been there is 45 minutes. That was from walking in to walking out with my prescription in hand! Love it!

We even went there for our flu shots! They took our insurance and the insurance paid for it. Had we gone to the doctor, it would have cost me $90.00!

Their prices are reasonable and seem to range from $30 - $70, depending on what you are there for. From what I've seen, they are taking more and more insurance plans. What's really nice is that they transmit the prescription right to the pharmacy and you can get it in about 10 minutes!

We have used Minute Clinic twice and have been very pleased with our experience.

Minute Clinics are staffed by either a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

Aren't they awesome?? :goodvibes I ended up with bronchitis a few months ago. Was feeling really really bad by about 6 in the evening, but DS had tennis practice at 7:30. Got to Minute Clinic at about 6:45, waited maybe 5 minutes, had *the* nicest NP, and was out of there, script in hand, by 7:15. All for my regular BCBS co-pay, whereas if I had gone to an urgent care facility (usually the only places open in the evening, along with the ER) I would have had to pay a huge emergency co-pay.

Awesome service, way better bedside manner, and I didn't have to sit in some stale germ-ridden waiting room for hours? What's not to love?? :lovestruc

My boyfriend went to one last Tuesday because he had a bad earache and the nurse practitioner gave him the wrong meds for his ear infection. He didn't get any better so two days later we went to a doctor that we had seen in the past. He was outraged when he saw that she had given him the wrong antibiotics and he said that the local Minute Clinic closest to him always sends patients to him because they can't figure out simple diagnosis. In other words they are scared to prescribe the right drugs and instead underprescribe or they don't treat them at all. DON'T GO TO ONE!!! My boyfriend could have had his eardrum busted because of this.

I understand what you're saying, but I wouldn't say that because of that particular clinic, ALL of them are bad.

I have used the Walgreens one and loved it.

I went to a dermatologist for my daughter and she was misdiagnosed (told her she would have to shave her entire head due to psoriasis). Took her to another one and within 30 seconds of meeting my daughter, she correctly diagnosed the problem as a scalp fungus and prescribed meds to clear it up.
I don't think all derms are bad - but that particular one was :rolleyes1

For minor stuff like strep or urinary tract infections, they're GREAT!
