My two daughters (12yo) and I will be arriving tomorrow afternoon at the Fort! I've been planning this for months (it was part of their Christmas) and we're all soooooo excited!

we'll be renting a pop-up from Fort Camper Rentals and I'd like to thank everyone on this board for sharing so much wonderful information. this is the first real vacation that the girls and I have taken together and we just can't wait to get there. Will be there until Tuesday and I'll be sure to post a trip report.

Thanks again!

Rita,

Good for you. The weather looks good for the length of your stay (sunny, highs in the 70s, lows about 50-bring some warm pajamas). Enjoy your stay at the Fort and thanks for taking the girls camping. I believe as a Scout Dad that kids benefit from being in the outdoors to any degree and are more confident and comfortable if they have good initial experiences.

Thanks. We're a scouting family too. I think Fort Wilderness is going to spoil us for future girl scout camping. LOL - hope this becomes a tradition! We don't live very far away (Tampa) so, it very easily could!

Have a great time. We'll be waiting to hear all about it. popcorn::

Camping is a great way to see this great country of ours. AS a scout I learned a lot of life's lessons. Can't wait to see you trip report.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to report back that we had a wonderful time at the Fort! The girls can't wait to go back and we'll definitely rent a camper again. The weather was perfect (except for the nights when it was just too darn cold for me!) but other than that we had a great time. It was so nice to be able to go to the parks in the morning, head back for a little chill time, and then go back at night.

Next time I'll be more organized about bringing some crock-pot meals so we don't eat out as much but really other than that, I can't think of anything that we'd do much differently. well, maybe I'd rent a golf cart but even without one it's very doable.

We didn't have any problems using the magic bands and linking them up with our reservations and getting fast passes. We really enjoyed the boat rides and tried to do that more than the buses.

so, now to look at the calendar and try to plan another trip!

thanks again for all the advice and ideas from this group!

Rita
