We have a 6:35am flight out of MCO. 2 Questions, does that mean will board bus at 3:30am??? And would we be able to check our bags at the hotel the evening before?

You will get picked up approximately 3 hours before your flight. I would take bags on ME bus and check at airport.

Yes.

We had a 7am flight and had to leave the resort at 4am. Sat for hours at the airport, dead tired. Pro: NO LINES for security that time of morning. Cons: everything else.

Yeah, but there are days that the airport can be very busy early in the morning. We had a 6 AM departure on a Monday once and believe me, we just barely got through to comfortably board our flight. At my stage of life I've rushed through way too many airports all over the place to want to do it again. Now, I appreciate some extra time before getting on the plane for a coffee and a bathroom break.

Just a thought because it's something we're considering. Take one night off your WDW resort stay and leave the evening before your flight to stay at the Hyatt at MCO instead. That way you'll be right at the airport for your early flight without getting up at 3am.

HMMMM:scratchin I definitely need to think about that....

Resort check-in for bags closes at 1:00pm and you can't check-in more than 12 hours ahead. You will have to take the bags to the airport with you.

This is what we'll be doing in December. We're flying home 2 days before Christmas and the airport will be a zoo. Being able to walk downstairs and get in line early will be a huge benefit. It's not like I will lose any vacation time. I'll still go to bed at the same time, just at the Hyatt:).

I booked December 22 on Hotwire for $160. I am sure people get it much lower other times of the year but it was cheaper than rack rate and I didn't want to leave it and watch it go up.

The main problem I have with the Hyatt, is we have 3 children, and 2 double beds mean I sleep on the floor. I looked and they do have a jr suite with king and sofa bed, which is doable, but $250 a night( still $20 cheaper than AoA suite). We are doing Osbourne lights Saturday so we could get on a bus at 9pm, but I feel like it would only save us an hour in the am I'm torn....decisions decisions I think probably not worth the switch. We'll get a little extra time the night befor at AoA

Sleeping on the floor in a quiet hotel way better than the airport floor though....

Wait...how does 2 beds mean you have to sleep on the floor? Kids are resilient and their joints are fresh...a night on an air mattress isn't going to bother them! (And I bet they have a roll-away cot anyway.) But...I probably wouldn't fool with switching either. I'd suck it up and just deal with the early flight.

Ahhh, you must have the good kind of kids and a young hubby....lol. My youngest is autistic and always wants to sleep with me or dad, my 2 oldest (8and 12) are masters at the art of whine and they don't do floors....lol, my hubby is 53 (I'm 44) and don't get me wrong, he would do it in a minute if I asked, he is better off in a bed...so when we stay at the hyatt on MCO or Houston for flight I'm on the floor...

I hashed it back and forth and I think we'll just stay, when all the math is done, I could get up @ 2 hours later at Hyatt, but I would easily lose that time or more the night before waiting for bus to MCO, getting checked in etc, so we can run the kids ragged all day, so they are super tired, throw them in the shower, brush their toothers, put them in their undies for the next day and get them to bed 2 hours earlier at AoA.

We have caught similarly timed flights before and we live and 1 and half away from airport, the kids are really good at getting up and going, they just can get a little snarky as the day goes on, if they don't sleep on plane. So it'll work;)
