I am writing this just to share my experience today, not to blame any one specific person.

Today I had a day off, and decided it was a good day to try and do all the quests available on a couple of my other characters. I only have a couple, so I thought it was do-able. Boy was I wrong. Normally I can do just about any quest in about 30-45 min, unless the dc monster gets me. Today I only managed to do the dog, cat, microphone, Mickey, mountain quest in my entire day on only one person. I had a few of my own problems... dc'ing, not scoring the right amount, and then the main reason why I write this.. Very rude people. I have to say that I truly missed all my dis friends on my friends list while on my other character. I did not have much of a problem in mansion as I did in pirates. I had to play a game of ship battle and win in order to continue on my quest. Well.. My first quest I chose of the day, it took me - no lie- 15 tries and a good person on my team before I could finally continue on. Before starting a game I would ask the lobby if anyone would help me win so that I may continue my quest. I did not get many replies, so I took whoever was on my team. When in game if the other team won the first round I would ask if they would kindly like to help me on the next round. They would laugh, or say mean things to me. It made me very sad to see this!

Now- since I’ve shared my story - I will get more to the point of this...
I truly hope that all of you who read this do not act like that to others. I have been playing for a while, but can experience problems like the rest of you. I notice when there is a 4 vs. 4 game, my computer will slow down and sometimes glitch. I made a joking comment in one of my May tries at pirates about it (being the truth) and they just laughed and said - yea right -. I have no need to lie, if I lose I lose. I even saw a few people keep the game going forever after everyone but one person on each team died... and after many minutes they killed the other and said - yes lots of credits-

I know that credits are important to everyone. I notice that the price of things keep going up too. But when you have someone you don’t know asking for help, I feel it is not nice to keep the game going forever, and then brag that you are getting all these credits for winning. Especially if you know they are on a quest.

I really really hope that none of you are like this, and I hope that if you happen to see others like this you will kindly - I repeat kindly - tell them this is a game and is supposed to be fun. I found these quests today to be very un-fun. I am a grown woman - not as grown as some, but enough :) - and if it can make me sad to see this, I can only imagine how it will make any 8-15 year old.

Please, I ask that you try to share the Disney experience with others, and not put them down, or ignore them when they deliberately ask for help. There are many out there who have problems with one game or another and the only way to finish the quest is to have nice people like us help them. There is nothing wrong with helping someone win. Someone also said to me today - you should win on your own, not have help to finish quest- This is true, it may feel great to win completely on your own.. But as I said, not everyone has an easy time playing certain games. I personally will start paying more attention to those around me, so that I can hopefully help others more! I admit that I do not spend much time reading what others write when I am on a mission, but now I think I am going to take a little more time looking. Not everyone out there is there to scam you, or use you. There are a lot of good people, and there are a lot of people who honestly need help from others.

Remember, we all started out in the same place - New to the game - share your wisdom with others who have yet to learn it! :) Then they too can pass along that knowledge to someone someday! :) Its part of the - pass it on - type idea. :)

Ok, I think I am now done with my story, and commenting. I hope you all understand what I am saying, and will indeed pass it on to others. :) For all of you out there who need help we are here to help! :grouphug:

A caring person-
Ash :wizard:

I'm really glad you wrote this. I've felt the same way as you many times. Mainly in the Pirate game and usually during the daytime. It is the one game I have had trouble on so now I will avoid any quest where you have to play it. The reason for this is because of the many rude players I've encountered. There have been a few that were really nice to help me with my quest by letting me be on the winning team, but the majority haven't been nice. It has happened to me where I will join a game and spend the credits, only to have a rude player bump me. I've had people in the game start arguing and get downright nasty whether they win or lose. VMK is supposed to be a fun place, but instead these experiences have made VMK downright frustrating at times.

As far as helping other players, we learned the hard way to be as helpful to the next person. Before I found this site, my daughter and I tried playing VMK and we just didn't get it. We had trouble even finding where the quests were or how to get to certain places on Tom Sawyer Island. After two days and asking people questions to which we got no answers, someone was polite enough to tell us. We were so grateful, we have made it a point to help anyone else when we see they need it. I realize rude people are everywhere, but if everyone made a point to be nice and polite, then the chances of finding a rude person on VMK would be slimmer.

Ash,

Sorry to hear you had a rough day on the Quests. I have noticed recently that the Pirates game seems to have attracted some of the worse VMK has to offer. I don't see the fighting, greediness, arrogance and just plain nastiness in other mini-games as I do in this new Pirates. I used to play the old Pirates alot and didn't see it then. Seems to be a new development, at least in my experience. :sad2: :confused3

I'm a medicore player, but if you ever see me around, you're always welcome to side with me. :goodvibes

Oh, and Since1971 you mentioned paying and being bumped - You don't get charged the credits until the game starts. It'll prompt you to approve the cost, but if you get bumped you haven't lost the credits. Same if you start a game and cancel it, you still have your 21 credits. :teacher: :teeth:

I have noticed some nastiness in the new pirate game as well. I was playing with a friend on my side and the girl on the other team asked if we could let her win because she was on a quest. We let her win. We saw her in the lobby shortly after telling people she needed to win for a quest. I asked her why she had to play again and she suddenly left the lobby. :confused3 Maybe people use this line to get credits these days?

I am so sorry to hear that. The following reason might be why you had an experience like you did yesterday.

I have played a few games of pirates and heard the following in the game "I am on quest" so I play enough to get my self enough credits to cover my cost and a few extra and let that person win. Only to find out after we finished, that it was a jk. This has happened to me numerous times. Now I do not know who to believe, except my friends that ask for pirates help. So I am sure those pirate players you played with yesterday, have had the same experience. Not that it is right to be rude, it just lets you see that there are two sides to a story.

Now if I hear someone state they are on quest, if I am not playing with a friend, I will help. But otherwise I am cautious. If you ever need help with your questing, please send me a PM - I am always glad to help.

Yes, there are rude players out there. On the other hand, I suppose it is rude to ask someone to let you win the game for a quest. I'm willing to throw a game or make sure to play three rounds of ghosts if the person asks before the game starts. I don't like it when I sign up for a game and the other person says nothing until the game has started. In that case I'm likely to play to win or achieve my personal goal if I'm on a quest. The one thing I don't do is quit.

Ash, I'm so sorry you had so much trouble getting people to cooperate with you. You did the right thing by asking first. I would have gladly played pirates against you and let you win. One thing you might want to try is to sign on as your main character and get some Dis together to help you. Then sign off and sign back on as your mule. It's a bit of a challenge to coordinate but I would go out of my way to help. I really love cooperative playing so feel free to try to find me next time you need help!

Maybe this is even easier, just have your mule search the popular rooms list for some of your Dis friends. Someone is bound to be in their room. Then just stop by and ask for help. If they can't help, they can probably send a message to some of the people on their friends list to see if anyone is available.

Another option would be for some of us Dis to get our mules together to become friends just for situations like this. Hmmm... maybe it's time for another mule ball?

I agree that players in the POC game can be very rude and even cruel at times. I have had other players say that I should not be playing if I can't do better. Hence, I only play for quests.

However, something to consider....I have done a few of the things you stated people did when they were being rude, but I don't mean it to be rude.

If by some miracle I am the only remaining person on my team, I always drag out the finish. This is to get plenty of ammo and health and try to find the best position in which to finish my opponent off. Since I am not very good this happens about 1/10 tries so....I always say things like "yes" or "Yeah!" if my team wins. Although I could care less about the credits...I get more from Fireworks!

I had the same experience trying to win a pirates game for a quest. I believe it was the diving quest, and not only do you have to get a certain amount of points but they have a time limit on that task, making it even more frustrating. I finally just logged in a second character and put it on the opposite side of me in a ship battle game. Then I added an AI player to each side. Doing it this way I still got the credits for sinking my other characters ship, and I got the bonus 100 for winning the game so I passed the task. If there is at least one human player on each side, you can still get the bonus, unlike playing with all computer boats.

I sorely miss the old pirates game. I enjoy and appreciate the new graphics and the option of playing two different pirate games, but I really really wish they would let us play against computer boats again, and have it be the same credits as playing a human player. Too many people are just plain nasty in that pirates game! A little ribbing between friends in a game is one thing, but pure trash talk against players you have never played with before is not fun or funny! I especially hate it when I see adults acting this way. You never know who that player is on the other side of the keyboard, it could be your friend or it could be my daughter (who's only 8). Believe me, younger players take comments directed at them in the game very very personally.

I've also seen players who say they are questing and are not so it is so hard to know what to trust. I like disvaclub strategy of winning at least one round when you're trying to help someone, that way you aren't out the credits and even if they are scamming, no harm done! Bottom line is that its really sad that in some cases the fun of playing the game has been lost because of sore losers, and sore winners!

Yes I too notice that pirates is a problem game. I had to get 150 credits for a staff quest and never succeeded after 20 games. I found getting 150 was like requiring 230,000 in fireworks or at least 50 ghosts. Getting 120 might have been more realistic. I find the players very rude in pirates battleship though capture the flag is much more enjoyable. I think because it is really more of a team in capture and battleship is just selfish. Maybe it is because people are using there credits to play. and in Ghosts it does not matter if you win as you only get 40 extra points but in battle ship it is 100 and when you pay 21 that is not a lot. I just am finding VMK not very fun anymore. And for some reason when there is over 3,000 players on line I can not play the games as my connection gets to slow.

So VMK staff if you are reading this please let capture the flag be part of the quests and not just battleship. And be more realistic in lower the score required.

Same story here. Pirates happens to be my worst game ever. I don't know if it is a combination of the slow computer speed, the fact that the game will "stall" every few seconds and then catch up, or that I still cannot determine exactly where those cannons will shoot (the angle is what I refer to here) but in any case, I still cannot master this game. I have completed all three levels but i continue with level 1 just so I can try to improve my game if at all possible.

I haven't been on the last couple of days due to work, but the last time I tried, I was actually on some of my mules. Mostly so I would not get ridculed in the game on my main. I find the players rude, nasty and smug. I played with one person who would constantly jump in a level 1 game, we would start and his big boast would follow..."gl bc I am on level tree." Ok, then why jump in a leve 1 game? To show off and kill anyone else's chances of winning no doubt. This person jumped into several of the games that I was playing so I finally decided to leave when I saw this player join.

I am not sure what it is eactly about this particular game. Maybe because we actually have to spend credits to play, maybe because we have to play with others, I don't know. I think Belle1997's assessment about how if you lose, you get almost nothing (versus HM game) might be the key. Haunted Mansion still offers good credits whether you win or lose. So not winning does not seem so crucial. In pirates, you spend 21 credits and if you lose, you can come out of there with a loss of credits.

I am still trying to master the game, however, not as cruiselinefan. I will continue to use my mules who will suffer the humiliation and torment of the rude players. Once I can get good enough, these poor mules can live out their retirement on a nice sandy beach (blizzard beach room LOL) and never have to play that blasted game again. :rotfl2:

First let me say this.... I thought you were the JOE in ashjoe not the ASH! :rotfl2:

Second... one is never so loney as when on a mule.... I know a few peoples mules on my mules and we often try and set up to get on each others mule list and work them together. Really helps.

As for the rudeness of people esp in pirates... UGH I am SOOOOO with you.

I was once log in as a guest and started a game and 3 or the top 5 players in battle jumped on the other side and promtly ripped me a new one all through the game, making fun of my team of guests.... Ooh shoot too late on that one... haha wasted gold... Oh please hurry up we are going to win anyway why run.... for the whole game.... Oh and lots of you guys Sock big time. these were players that have been around... picked guests to pick on and had fun doing it.

If I win I get a lot of You Beach and a new one from yesterday.... "Duck you"

If I loose I get You sock Haha etc...

The worst offenders never seem to get sent to the same lobby as me or I would report them....

I NEVER play against a guest if they start the game on level one. I always play with them..... So in addition to all the YOU SOCKS I get a lot of Thanks for helping me!

((((HUGS))))

I would like to address this bump issue....I used to NEVER EVER BUMP but since the last upgrade that VMK did....I HAVE TOO...I can no longer play with more than 4 players or I crash. So it is bump or crash. So I try to let the players I am bumping know but sometimes they choose to ignore what I say and rejoin as quickly as possible forcing me to either exit out of the entire game or start and hope for the best. Which always leads to a crash.

I just wanted everyone to be aware that there are issues with pirates that make it necessary for some people to have to bump you if there are more than 4 players.

I don't like having to bump anyone but if I want to play it is just a fact that I can not play with more than 4 to a game now. I miss the big games when alot of us DISers got together and had great 8 player games but sadly I can not participate in those now....even a 6 player game will 50% of the time lead to a crash. Until I upgrade memory or get a cable connection.

I am running 768 megs of ram and it was plenty until this last upgrade looks like I need to buy another 512 meg to replace my 256 one.

All that said, I too have noticed alot of very rude players in Pirates lately. When I say rude, I mean things they say, because I do not count leaving the game as rude. I try and give everyone the benefit of the doubt there and hope they crashed and not just quit.

I almost never ever play battle because I perfer capture. I do notice that alot of people do not know how to play capture correctly and play it like it is battle which, by the way, is a complete waste of time because the credits just are not there playing that way. If you want to play Battle then play battle.

I also find scoring 150 on Ship Battle to be painful. It took me a few tries,
and I'm not a fan of this game. I had to try to help another person on
my friends list by doing what Disvaclub said she does: become a "sitting
duck".

Because it is easy to say, "I'm doing a quest", I'm sure a lot of pirate sharks
out there use this to take advantage of people's generosity. I think a HUGE
part of the bad blood in the game is the "pay to play" part of it.

I think I'll stick with Mansion for my credit building.

yeah it is kinda hard, i can do better at mansion

but it is a shame, when people say im on a quest, i let them beat me all the time.

ash or other disers.

If you ever see me in the lobby of pirates during the day and you need help, just ask. I do not mind helping fellow disers on their quests. They may fool me once by saying "I am on a quest" and I let them win by playing pirate side, but if I see them in the lobby again and again ... saying I am on quest. Well I do not hesitate to play the pirate side and sink them.

I started keeping my own list of players who I don't like to play with because of their comments during game. There are certain players that talk during the game, more so after they explode - and the chat covers where ammo and health are. Those people have no consideration for the remaining player.

I guess I should clarify my statement a little more. The times that I have been bumped it has been when there are only myself and another player or a total of four on the team. I think it is nice that you let others know Mal. The times it has happened to me, there was no warning at all. If someone would have said something, I would have understood and not taken it as being rude.

Thanks for the heads up on the credit thing. It is nice to know I don't lose them.

It is a shame that some people use the quests as an excuse for getting others to let them win. There was only one time, during the Diving quest that I mentioned to someone I was on a quest. Someone was nice enough to play with me. We lost, but it was very nice and I thanked them for helping. On another note, there was one time I played that someone told me it was good that I was on their team because they were good and "win every time". Right after she made this comment in the lobby, some very seasoned players joined the game opposite us and proceeded to win single-handedly. They were also extremely rude to everyone on the team. They said all kinds of things during the game to taunt us and no one from my team said a word. We were too busy trying to play. To me, that is the kind of rudeness that needs to stop. I realize most of the people on VMK are probably adults, but the game says for ages 8-14 so there is a real possibility that the person on the other side is a young child that could get their feelings hurt over such nonsense.

That's not a bad idea to keep a list, and it is a bother when there is alot of chat and you can't see ammo, especially on the dark screen! Maybe it's just my screen. I've switched more to fireworks for the credits, but when new quests come out that's not a guarantee, and I miss the comraderie of Pirates. It's mostly fun playing with friends though.
The old pirates was easy to do a quest because you could play yourself if you wanted against the usually lower than average pirates and easily win. Now we are at the mercy of real people on both sides never knowing which ones are good or bad. And credit wise, you can go from 80 to 0 in a matter of seconds, which is hard. :(

Ash, I need to get the mountain pin for my mules, only a couple days to do it, let me know when you want to do your next player and we can go through together! We'll sink those pirates! pirate:

Thanks Car! Sounds good, i have 3 more mules left (all of which have to do all the quest... including dive, mic, etc) So I think I will do one each day of just the mickey, cat, dog, mountain quests. I will try to find you all in the lobby when I do.

Also, I just want to clarify, I have read a lot of replys saying they get asked to win because they are on quest... I just want to say that I never asked to win, I always asked if someone would be on my team to help me win. It would only be in a few games that actually started that I did attemt to ask (after they one the first round) if i could win the game because I was on the quest. I personally would never ask to win just to win. Like some have said, I have more fun on capture the flag then on battle. I also seem to be much better at capture the flag then battle. But since those silly quest require to use battle, that is what I am stuck playing :) until i finally pass and can move on with my life :woohoo:

I did keep my eye out for any names i recognized from dis.. but sadly that time and that day, I did not see any. Maybe next time i'll see you on the docks :yay: until then - Aarrr, don't be coming after me pirate gold :wave2:

I am pretty good at pirates, so If you ever see me in the lobbies, (aka TheDivaStar) Just tell me your on a quest and I will help you too!

I know what you mean, I will be in a game and when someone kills me, I will say gg :), but if the other person lost they will be like you sock, or go to beep (I added the beep btw) I will say, that wasn't nice, it's people like you that make this game not fun, please let's just be nice and end it here, they usually never say anything else.

Unless you get the stubborn ones. They will reply after i saying that with, "Who cares, just shut up." I also hate the people that in a middle of the pirates game will say, I am on a quest let me win, I tell them that I don't let people win, they have to earn it. That was what I said at the end of the game. We end up in the same lobby, I said since you still need to play pirates join my team and I will try to make us win. He says, I only have a minute (VMk language on oh oh minute) He goes on, That's not enough time, Thanks a lot! Not!

I just get so annoyed at them but if you see me I would be happy to play pirates with you :)
