Very Disappointed In Pop Century's Tie Dye Cheesecake Now

For those who haven't seen it before, this is what it originally looked like (Googled the pic)

While it wasn't the best cheesecake ever, the novelty factor made it so much fun to eat. The new one....just doesn't look appealing.

I saw a picture of the cup and it did have the red velvet cake a the bottom- a little bit.

I've always thought it wasn't that great tasting

There was the slightest bit of red velvet cake at the bottom of the cup. This was September, when I had it.

Bummer! That was on my list of must-try snacks for my upcoming trip. It makes me fear all the must have's will change for the worse before I get there!

You can get better cheesecake elsewhere of course. aka the Boardwalk Bakery's cheesecake brownie.

BUT before this thread gets too sad....

There is always the King=to die for cupcake. Dark chocolate cake filled with fresh banana custard topped with peanut butter buttercream frosting and candied bacon!:stir:

This is very disappointing. I wouldn't say the old one was the best I've ever had but it was pretty darn good. I will not be trying the new cup version. It doesn't look appetizing at all!

I gotta be honest, neither look appetizing to me. But, at least the original resembles a slice of cake. That bowl or cup of colored gunk looks gross. Yuck. :crazy2:

It looks like multicolored Flubber.

:rotfl2: I have never tried the original because we have never stayed there, but we will be there for our arrival night and I was going to try a piece. Not anymore though. I will save those calories for something else. :thumbsup2

Wow that is disappointing and to replace it with that horrible looking slop. I loved the old cheesecake. Sure it was not the absolute best cheesecake but it was different and still good. I must have had 5 pieces the first time I stayed at Pop.

I went over to try it the first week of Oct, walking across the lake from Art of A.

I got the little round one, did not know it was not the original style.

I LIKED it a lot. Loved the crazy colors, liked the small size too. It seemed tasty to me, and fun. (I was on the food plan, so I did not worry about the price).

I must be really weird. I just ate this on Monday and thought it was great!!!

Last year I had it for the first time and thought the taste of the cheesecake and red velvet cake together was really weird and gross.

While waiting of the DME to show up, I bought one for a snack. After we got to the bus stop I remembered that I didn't like it last year because of how terrible the cake/cheesecake combo is. I decided to just eat all the cheesecake part and throw away the rest of the cake part. I was really excited that I made it all the way to the bottom without that gross cake part!

Plus, let's be real. That is a terrible picture. Any food would look gross if it was photographed like that.

I stayed at POP in late September and got the tye dye cheesecake (the new smaller size, V2.0) and even though it was a smaller size, it was still very delicious. It was still the colorful cheesecake top, with the red velvet cake bottom.

Is it a gourmet desert? No. Is it something (to my knowledge at least) that you can only attain at WDW? Yes. That alone to me makes it worth trying. Everyone is bound to have different opinions about what's worth eating at what's not, but you'll have to make decisions like that for yourself when in the situation.
