Verrandah question

I am a DVC member and considering a Disney cruise next summer. I need to have a balcony as opposed to just a window. My question to those who have cruised on the Disney Magic: I have enough points for the Navigator's Verrandah but not enough for the regular Verrandah. Is the Navigator's sufficient air and view or would you recommend booking the open balcony. Navigators looks quite nice on the video but would like some personal opinions please.

Most people who have sailed in them really like the Navigator verandas. The big difference with them is that they are more closed in and normally have white walls on either side. It does limit your visibility ever so slightly but the size of the veranda and access outside is essentially the same.

We like the extended verandas but any kind is better than none.

What needs does the balcony need to fill for you?

Just remember, you cannot leave the door to the balcony open to your room.

Rent your points out for cash and then get the verandah you really want. That is what we do - the points needed for cruising are so high that we rent the points and pay cash for the cruise. We always come out ahead . We use a broker to rent out our points.

Just a note on the Magic and Wonder, if you have a navigator or a white wall verandah, you will not be able to see the ocean from sitting in the chairs. You'll need to stand to take advantage of the view. You'll need the plexiglass wall in order to see things if that is one of your desires.

We've stayed in a navigator's verandah room before and found it to be just as satisfying as a regular verandah room.

We had a Navigator's Verandah on the Wonder and liked it, but thr Magic Navigator's Verandah opening is smaller than that on the Wonder. Be aware of that when looking at pictures online: make sure you're looking at the Magic rather than the Wonder.

We have sailed in both types of verandas and it's really subjective. When we had the Navigator, it was either because we expected it to be a bit chilly and the wind break was good for us to still enjoy being "outside" without getting cold or having it be too windy. It's also good if you need to stay out of direct sun. If you want to sit in a chair and look out at the scenery or the ocean, you will need a regular veranda with the Plexiglas
wall. You have to stand to see out of the Navigator veranda "port hole". You also have to stand on a veranda with a solid white wall.

I had a navigator verandah on the Magic for a transatlantic and it was just a nice as the open verandah which I have also had on another two other TAs. They are different but fresh air is fresh air. I actually like that it was enclosed and it felt like another room. I also feel more secure on the Navigator verandah after dark.

Which itinerary are you doing? You mention the Magic next summer.

If you are doing a cold itinerary, then a traditional Navigator's Verandah might actually be preferable because it will sheild you from the wind and chilly air.

If you are doing Greece or the Med, try to get 6134, 6634, 7120, or 7620. These are classified as 7A, but the obstruction is very small and they are almost identical to a regular verandah.
