I was just curious if anybody is at Vero now during spring training with the Dodgers or has been in the past and can tell me what the crowds are like in Vero. Thought is our home resort because we figured we needed the 11 month window for March.

We did Vero in March of 2001. Weather was great - mid 70s every day. There was a cool breeze which made stepping out of the pool a little tough. We didn't swim in the ocean because it was cold and they were experiencing strong riptides while we were there. Activities were abundant every day around the resort - the kids had a great time. And - those pesky no-see-ums didn't bother us at all (unlike our most recent August trip when they ate us alive!).

We wore shorts/bathing suits all day. You could do light longsleeves/light pants at night if you tend to get chilled (we didn't - kept the shorts/t-shirts on).

March is the "prime season" for the Vero Beach area. However, I have been very lucky both this year and last in getting Oceanview Inn rooms with short notice. Unfortunately, it was for a relative and not myself. :( I'm not sure about availability for other accomodations. My guess is that villas would be harder to come by since there are fewer of them.

We went in March 2002. Loved it. Called and got an ocean view inn room with about 30 days notice. (we were paying cash)

We swam in the pool and a little in the ocean. The ocean was a little active while we were there but this can happen at any time of the year. I believe they actually closed the beach for a day or two. We just did one of the many other things available.

Had a great time and it wasn't as busy as it would have been around Easter.

We always have a good time at Vero, though.

We also didn't encounter any nosee-ums in March unlike this past October-I looked like I had the chicken pox. I thought people were going to take their children and run away from the pool when I would take my cover-up off and get ready for a swim.:D

I'll be there in a few days but not staying at the resort.Like PamOKW said it is primetime in the area. The snowbirds are still out in full force and the local area restaurants can be a bit more crowded. But not to worry it is still nice and laid back.:) If you have any baseball fans in the family,it is fun to take in a game while in town.Holman Stadium
Enjoy your next stay.:)
