We had some points to use up so my daughter and I made a quick trip down to Vero Beach. It is not our favorite DVC location but all the Orlando units were booked.
It turned out to be very relaxing but a couple of things made me wonder if DVC is starting to pinch pennies or if its always been this way:
One setup of little soaps, shampoos, etc. is in the room when you check in. If you want more it is $3 for those tiny bottles. Ditto for coffee/tea.
There is a charge for more towels (we didn't need any but seems like in the past there was no charge)
There is no inroom internet connection and to use the one computer in the lobby area is a fee for each 30 minutes - $5 or $15, I've forgotten. Most places I've been in the last several years have a business center where guests have free access.
We ate in the "casual" restaurant the first night and it was horrible. Our meats (pork for my daughter, salmon for me) were fine but the vegetables were inedible. My daughter ordered her pork dish because it came with her favorite vegetable - sweet potatoes. She could not eat it. My salmon came with brussel sprouts and they were overseasoned and burned. All this for $60 (no appetizer, no alcohol, no dessert). We drove into town for the next two nights.
Has anyone else had these experiences?
