Heading to VB after a stay at BWV in a few days and had a couple general questions. We've never been there before and going with my wife and son, 11, and daughter, 9. Wondering what acitivities everyone has done, restaurants you've eaten at, driving time from WDW and anything else you care to mention!

We love the Vero Beach DVC facility. We love waking up and going to sleep with the sound of the surf hitting the beach. We haven't ventured out away from property. We plan to do that this time.

From last years experience at Sonya's, I don't recommend eating in the restraunts. Very expensive and service was awful at dinner. I hope that this information will be sufficient in explaining this statement. Our friends were taking us out to dinner as a thank you for taking them with us on our two week DVC vacation, we spent time at 3 resorts (OKW, BWV, VB). The dinner was over $300 and it took 2 hours to get our meal and then we were rush out of the restaurant because it was past closing time. The food was cold to say the least.

We are hoping to try Captain Hirams sometime. If you get on the net and search for Vero Beach you can get all kinds or community information. Next summer we plan to do an Indian River Cruise. $50 per person even kids, they provide a 2 hour tour that includes the history of the area and a buffet dinner. Sounds really neat.

The kids will love the pool and the beach. There are activities for kids on the lawn (beach side): crocket, volleyball, or badmitten. You could call in advance and ask them about the activities. We have not participated in much.

We bring cereal, milk, lunch meat, bread, and microwave meals to each in our room.

Hope this helps.

DH and I were there in early May for three nights and loved it. We basically relaxed at the beach and pool. Next time I think we'll try to do some kayaking, see if we can catch a minor league baseball game. The front desk can help with just about anything.

We ate breakfast and lunch in our room. If you love fresh orange juice, make a stop at Hales which is right on your way. It's great. We had dinner each night at Shutters. Menu had dinner items as well as salads, pizzas and a couple of sandwiches. We enjoyed it very much -- quality was excellent. Prices are higher than what you can find locally, but we really didn't feel like getting in the car and going anywhere else.

The drive from WDW is very easy -- just follow the instructions on your ressies. It took us about an hour and a half going down. Returning we had some problems with the rental car and had to make a side trip to the Melbourne airport to exchange cars. Even with that, it was well under two hours.

Hope you have a great time..
