Hi - We are considering a trip to Vero in June - Boardwalk is Booked- and we are wondering if the bugs will be a problem that time of year. Also is the Turtle Watch/Walk available at that time? If anyone has any other comments on a June Vero trip, they will be greatly appreciated. Our group ranges from Grandma down to 11 years old. Thanks..Rich

I don't think the Turtles are about at that time of year, but the good news is I don't think the bugs are so much either. I've been in July and August and to be honest , while it's still HOT, it isn't as oppressive as Orlando. 1) because you're not yomping around a park all day, so you can go dip in the pool/sea and 2) the breeze from the ocean does tend to cool you down a lot.

Hey Rich,

I am a regular Vero goer in the summer. I am also from Jersey your neighbor actually, Rahway! We tend to break up our summer trip a few days in Vero then off to Orlando for a few more!
The dreaded bugs of Vero are really a bit of a problem in July and August when we tend to visit. I am sure they are also present in June. The thing to remember is wherever water, bugs are present. This is a very FL florabunda place!!! These pesty little bugs however to do not deter us from having a great time. Just remember skintastic in the daytime hours, Deep Woods Off after dusk. If you have a great ocean breeze it does help quite a bit.
I have found that the bugs of Fl are no worse than the green heads of Avalon, NJ in July. Now those buggers hurt. Don't let the little buggers stop you from having a terrific time in one of our favorite places, just grease up and have a ball.
The turtle walk was not really an option when we were there, I no that the actual hatching happens around Labor Day. But not really sure. The kayak trip along Sebastian River is one of my kids favorite. The daytime activities and treasure hunts are great for the little ones. Orange grove trips are fun. Have a great time!!! Hi Rich,
Another Jersey neighbor ( Clark) The susie 40 was the one to turn us on to Vero ( yes she a relative!) Its a wonderful resort! The bug situation is a problem. We've been in July and August. The only additional advice is Benadryl spray ,for the little buggers who make it past the bug spray.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of Vero! Get a room on the third floor for the best views of the ocean.

Thanks to all who responded.. If anyone has any more comments they are appreciated. Thanks..Rich

We were at Vero the first week of June last year. Turtle tracks were on the beach daily. They had the Turtle walk on Wednesday night. We saw a loggerhead turtle estimated at about 275 lbs. The only problem is that you must have your room number picked from a hat. The tours are limited to about 18-20 people. The tours start with a slide show and informational presentation at 9pm and then you go out on the beach with guides til about 11pm. The no see-um bugs are tough. You'll need bug repellant and long pants and long sleeves on the tour. I wore shorts and got bitten extensively. The bugs apparently felt the repellant was an appetizer. Bugs weren't bad during the day. Have a good time.

The turtles lay eggs every night from April though September.
